Very true, I remember the leagues I played in was the same. Refs were like the one yesterday and teams would kick the crap out of you especially if you did nothing about it, always had to put in a Case tackle to let the other team know that shit isn’t going to fly.

Personally I kind of fault the ref too. If you’re not going to protect the players somewhat then it’s going to end in a free for all tacklefest.

CBS commentators called it straight as it happened. They said Casemiro had one thing in mind with that tackle, and that was to send a message to liverpool which he did loud and clear.

Benz missed an absolute sitter, as did Vinicius. Can’t give him MOTM after that.

Can't compare Benz to Vini yesterday. Vini did worse than just missing a sitter. If we had a more direct and expierenced LW in place of Vini, our veterans would be less tired because we would burry opponents much sooner instead of ********ing up the simplest plays with low level decision making. I know he does good things, but to me he's frustrating, i'm afraid of that kid lol.

    You're wildin.

Vinicius was the one who had the smart play to hold up a counter an alleviate pressure in the first half. He helped defensively and threatened on the counter. He's 20 so yeah he's going to not be perfect.

Benzema is our captain, a champion and one of the best headers of balls in the world and he missed an absolute gimme.

Asensio is in his mid-20s and plays like he is 10 years old and disinterested.

Let us try to have some perspective..

The excuse this time was that we weren’t playing in front of an anfield crowd. One commentator even said it’s like Liverpool are playing with a man down.

de la Morena getting destroyed on twitter after saying that "it's better to lose in the first knock out round than be humiliated in the quarter final" when Real Madrid beat Atalanta. :D:D:D

Here's a response from yesterday to that tweet that made me laugh:

Diego Simeone was probably at home slow clapping like he did for Fed (this time getting strange looks from his wife instead of bewildered Atletico fans).

Case was raging there, in my innocent little head I knew he was too late and was afraid he wouldn't be able to get back to midfield. :speechless:

Casemiro always knows what he's doing. For being the "hard man" of the team he always seems in control and usually has that squinty eyed smile.

He gets away with a lot of stuff because he's the opposite of Gattuso.

Suddenly, Liverpool stopped attacking for 10 minutes. It was probably because more fresh legs. Odri also freed up Fede Valverde. With Fede and Valverde in the midfield. Liverpool was not going to walk over the team. Yes, I do believe that Odri was an important sub.

it probably helps just a little bit to look like a 5 year old

but yes extremely cerebral player. And his improvement on the ball over the past year is noticeable. the baby faced wall is much harder to press now.

Casemiro is an amazing story and he’s going to retire a club legend.

I said it before, Zidane’s subs killed off the game right when it seemed Liverpool were going to score.

Vini’s game yesterday was only “bad” by the high standards he set in the previous two. He played an incredibly mature role yesterday IMO.

Vini still made Klopp and TAA shit themselves despite not getting a goal.

He got the superstar treatment everytime he had the ball.

To be honest aside from the early minutes of first half and moments throughout we were in control of this game, it was a nervous affair watching it for sure but looking back on it it was totally normal that Liverpool would create opportunities considering how desperate they were but overall we dictated the game, especially in the second half.

The overall xG for the game ended something like 1.23-0.83 in their favor. Factoring in the overall circumstances, there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. We can talk about some of the chances that it looked like they missed, but a lot of those chances were either from sharp angles, or coming from the top of the box/outside the box or from volleys. Those shots are so much more difficult than they look on television, and xG reflects that. Holding them to barely over 1 goal expected in a game where they needed a minimum of 2 and you knew they would be bringing the kitchen sink is the sign of a resolute defensive performance, and that's before you then take into account playing a makeshift RB and with neither first-choice CB playing, either.

Vinicius was the best attacking player imo.Asensio was absolute trash and Benzema was overall poor,Vini made some good runs and had the bigest chance to score in the second half.

Which he completely fluffed. That was an easy finish, he just had to lift it over the keeper and completely fluffed the contact. It looks like a decent save but if you watch the actual chance close up you can see how easy it would have been to lift the ball over him.

He will get better but I expect more.

You’re right.. it’s not a “not good at it thing” but lack of interest.. let the work speak for itself mentality but I still think it contributes to why people / the world general don’t give him the full credit..

Zidane never really bothered being a star even back when he was a player.

Absolutely. His reading of the game and natural instincts regarding the flow of passes is phenomenal. I read a while ago that he watches more game film than any other player and as much as a coach would. He goes home and watches game film for hours, his own and the teams he’s gonna face. No wonder he is half a step ahead of them.

His career has been an amazing story and Zidane trusts him completely. If you gave Zizou truth serum and asked him which player he can’t play without he’d say Casemiro.

He definitely got the super star treatment and that speaks volumes. Klopp said before the game he was gonna try to stop passes reaching him.
Yeah, that chance wasn’t very hard but all forwards miss chances. He’ll get better.
