From the highlights France v. England looked like an entertaining match. Not sure about the penalty call on Daly--her hit on the French player in the box looked bad but came after the player had hit the ball with her foot. I think VAR, had it been in play, would have overturned it. The French will be encouraged, especially with missing some of their starters.

Daly pretty much crashed into the French player when she tried to get to the ball. Intentional or accidental it’s still a penalty.

3rd goalie Constance Picaud is a big surprised to me this season. We didn't know much about her because her club went from Division 2 (Le Havre).
She is doing a great season even if she isn't not help by her defence.

France won over England without Olympic Lyonnnais' players. France team has top 2-4 french clubs players (PSG, Bordeaux, Montpellier) plus some Atletico Madrid and Bayern players. The starting line up looks pretty young too.

More power to the french league.

So you would say this is the A/B team?

Well I guess the US team nowadays wouldn't be considered as an A/B team if they miss 2/3 key core players so...no I wouldn't,
but 5 years ago, we certaintly would say so about the French Team because more than half of the team came from OL.

Very curious to see if Diacre will rest the PSG players as they play OL in the Champions League on Sunday. As all but one Lyon players (Le Sommer) have spent the whole international break chilling at home following the Covid-19 outbreak, they will be a lot fresher than the PSG players having battled England and the USA.

With Lyon 1-0 up after the game at the Parc des Princes PSG will need their players at full power to have a chance to qualify.

Peyraud-Magnin; Torrent, Tounkara, De Almedia, Perisset; Jaurena, Palis, Dali; Asseyi, Le Sommer, Fleury against the USA would be a disaster...

The flawed and amateur Champions League covid rescheduling by UEFA already bit Vålerenga. This time it's PSG. How could they not factor in the international break and this scenario?

I wonder if it still the case that clubs don't have to release players due to covid? Because if it is, PSG should recall their players.

When should they have rescheduled the game? The semi-final is only one week later.

Good question. What happens if PSG get into covid blockage now? They give it to Lyon. And similar to Brøndby, one team should not reap a clear and obvious advantage while the other is punished (for similar circumstance and issue).

Yes indeed, the game has to be played before 20 April. But because the original second leg was postponed due to Lyon, they might null and void the second leg totally and just take the first leg result.

Saying that as long as PSG get 13 players the game will be played.

How is that a reason not to call the foul?

You're mistaken. PSG is "top 1" this season in D1.
BTW Montpellier isn't top 4 either, they're #6 right now and it showed with De Almeida's & especially Torrent's performance last friday.

Diacre literally said at the press conference before England that she's going to be selfish. She doesn't care about our players & team. She will play the PSG players to the ground.

You mean similar to what happened in the quarter finals for PSG.
Sparta Praha asked to reschedule the 1st leg because of COVID cases, PSG graciously agreed to rescedule and even accepted the 2nd leg to be played in Prague (it was originally the other way around).

Eventually the 1st leg game happened and 2 days later 4 PSG people were COVID positive (3 players + 1 staff). Since it was not possible to reschedule again PSG lost 3-0 by default. We only went through cuz we won 5-0 at home.

Sure, this could happen again against Lyon.

Oh well...this suprising D1 season gets me wrong indeed or was it the force of the habit, idk.
Still PSG Montpellier Bordeaux are known to be the top 4 french women teams in general because they are the fully pro teams in France. I believe people knew what I meant.

Yesterday match underlined even more the weak spots France have yet to fix.

Surprised the French didn't play Brand or Diani in this game. They have the pace.

Rotation to keep the PSG players fresh enough for the Champions League.

xG at 0.1 for France, talking about failure, that was bad.
I am sure a full strength side would have given the USA a game.
But Champions League is more important for the players.

The Champions League defeat against PSG has slightly weakened the Lyon players position against Corinne Diacre. They need to make sure they don't lose the League title to PSG, otherwise their legitimity based on winning everything will go down the pan.

    The battle is on.

I guess the move albeit it being a mere loan for Bouhaddi to the NWSL is her officially quitting the fight?

She stills sends a few tweets towards Diacre whenever she feels it lol

There was recently a peculiar incindent when current number 1 Pauline Peyraud-Magnin's mum made a positive comment about Corinne Diacre. The Lyon fans went for the jugular telling her daughter used to shit in her pants just a thought of having to play for Lyon in the WCL final and also that her daughter owed everything to OL and she was nothing without the club.

Quite obvious that they made it easy for both teams by playing in City at the fronteer of the two countries. You walk on a bridge over the Rhine river to go from Strasbourg to Kehl in Germany.

    France squad v Germany.

No Henry or Hamraoui, Baltimore injured. Just a bizzare squad that is exposing a lack of depth in midfield.
