He's really impressive. When he's not playing, Juve misses something, and it's his hustle, ball-winning, etc.

    Wait, he kissed him? :sneaky:

He's super Italian now! Reminds me of that one time an Italian dude kissed me at my hostel in Birmingham (UK) when I was saying goodbye and I was totally flabbergasted seeing the British dudes staring.

I don't see how anyone would be surprised Pirlo is in trouble. He took over a team that sat in first place for a decade and he has them in third and 10 points off the leaders. If anything I think his reputation has kept the vultures at bay longer than would have been possible with most coaches. This is the worst season they've had for a decade. Hard for some of the blame not to go to the coach.

Not to mention dumped out of the Champions League in the round of 16. And by a team that is, on paper, inferior.

Yep, that's generally how it goes at Juventus; if you don't win the title, or at least a major trophy, your season is a flop. And the coach is almost always the one who takes the fall for it. Nothing new.

As should be the case. they are the richest and highest spending club in Italy. The owners spend a ton of money, so expect trophies. This is clearly a tweener year for them. mcKennie looks to be one with whom to rebuild the dynasty.

Hmmm the high’s of starting and scoring are now gone. He needs a big appearance off the bench today.

I get that Juventus is having a disappointing season, but I really don’t fault Pirlo too much for it. Their defense is really showing its age, and they’re so reliant for CR for offensive output. It reminds me a little of Moyes taking over for Sir Alex right when United needed an overhaul. I’ve actually felt like Juventus look pretty well-coached when they play, they just don’t have a lot of attacking weapons and their midfield and defense are meh.

also, the competition has finally improved significantly. conte is a head case, but he is an excellent manager, and he has some players who fit his system well.

That's how I see it too. They seem very much a team in the midst of retooling and need another transfer window or two to do that. So, I would give Pirlo more time, but I'm not a diehard Juve fan.

I think there are other places Weston can go that would be great .... but this does not make much sense. Young, talented, has the Juve attacking spirit .. why would you sell him unless you think he is worth more to sell now than he can benefit you later?

Watching McKennie thrive going forward, and thinking about the USMNT, is there such a thing as a 4-1-2-3?
Back 4, Adams in front, with Musah and McKennie behind the front 3?

Yeah, there are two basic ways to play an4-3-3. One is to play with a 10ish player in front of 2 6s, and the other is to play 2 8s in front of a 6. You’re talking about the latter.

Yeah, I think sometimes people get too hung up on the exact numerical formation. A coach can pretty easily just say, "Hey, you guys are our 3 CMs. Weston, you have license to get forward and create overloads in and around the opponent's box. Tyler, that means you have to be aware of when he's pushing up and slide over to cover as needed." We're not playing chess where pieces can only move in the ways defined by the formation.
