From the games I've seen this season, I really love what he's doing. I don't know if the Austrian BL is on par with MLS or not, but IMO opinion he will face some challenges there that he won't in MLS. First, it's a dogfight every week in the regular season. In MLS, you hit August, and some teams are out of it, it's hot, there is less to play for generally, and the stakes overall are lower. So, it is a more intense level of competition week-in week-out in Austria. Second, the pressure is higher. Salzburg cannot afford to slip up. Drop points, and you're getting overtaken by Vienna. Third, my impression is that even if the players there are less technical or physical, they are tactically sound. It just presents a different challenge. Anyway, I'm very optimistic. I hope he can parlay this sometime down the road into a serious move.
1) Aaronson's combo of vision and cross was IMO more difficult in the clip. He had multiple options and more defenders in the picture than Pulisic did 2) Aaronson's instincts would be to make that cross most of the time. I still maintain Pulisic is more direct and more often than not dribbles down instead of combining with his teammates. 3) Pulisic hasn't been playing like that for Chelsea. Just my opinion. Of course Pulisic is a very talented player. The general point is that this is a feature of Aaronson's game. The vision. The pass. The combination of technical and tactical skills.
That was a more traditional straight across the goal cross from Pulisic for one, not the swerving ball from much further from the endline, which is what makes it a more difficult pass. Also, if you have to go find a play by our best player from several years back for a comparison, that just emphasizes that it was a very good ball.
I have no idea. But, if the question is if Marsch is a better coach than Curtin, then my response would be... Even if RBS is a big fish in a small pond, I'm willing to bet that the level of competition within the club on a daily basis is higher than it is in Chester.
This is one of those, "Holy small sample size, Batman," moments. Regardless, I think he's climbed into the top 4-5 of our winger options pretty easily, w/some coverage to central midfield added as well. I'm not sure how far his athleticism scales, but for now it looks good enough, especially when you add his ability to score from anywhere, and to throw dimes, and crosses around at pace like they're loose change at a fountain.
yeah sorry got kind of buried, but was talking about patson dakas valuation after his hat trick and how i thought based on how disappointing he has been on european stages he was going to be a better sale than buy
It's already been said but its pretty impressive how Aaronson just continues to grow constantly the meet the level he moves up to. What I like the most is all the new stuff he is learning and showing on the field. For example, in MLS he would constantly perform that turn into space when receiving the ball. He pretty much became known for it, and I assume it was easy for him. I haven't seen him do that move once at Salzburg - he has so little space and the game is so tight (and Salzburg plays so fast, he has no time) - yet he has adapted perfectly and is still effective in tight spaces and moving the ball and making the right pass. So yeah, good signs.
He hasnt really had a break either so I'm pretty surprised that he's managed to stay so aggressive with his pressing
Very active and sharp. Seems to inject energy into the attack. I look forward to seeing what he can do as he moves up the competition ladder.

BREAKING NEWS: Brenden Aaronson got a haircut and isn't wearing a headband 💇 pic.twitter.com/y3TK81s5dl— FTF Sports (@WatchFTFSports) April 11, 2021
1-0 Salzburg at HT from a scramble off a corner. Feels like the type of game where they give up the equalizer soon and then chase the win for the rest of the game TBH. Aaronson had some touches but not much else. The tightest, closest game Salzburg has played in recent weeks. Really interesting to see the better teams do a better job at denying RBS the transition opportunities they feast on, and once that happens all the vertical passes from RBS do is give the ball away.
Hah, it's not even real football, it's a video game or something. Here's the Salzburg game: https://www.ftfnext.com/videos/austrian-football-bundesliga-sk-rapid-wien-vs-fc-red-bull-salzburg
Ok well I was a bit wrong lol, right at the start of 2H an Aaronson pass springs Daka who is fouled and draws a (questionable) red...
Brenden Aaronson with a great chance! With the goalie down and out his shot is headed off the line by the Rapid Wien defender Mateo Barac #SCRRBS | https://t.co/CFX3jIbbIQ pic.twitter.com/X4h3hxgUfd— FTF Sports (@WatchFTFSports) April 11, 2021
Aaronson subbed out. Choppy, messy game (for the teams I mean) overall. In 2H, I counted two drawn fouls by Aaronson, 3 shots - one needing a diving save from the goalie, and a great defensive effort pressing in the opponents box that won possession back. Not a bad game but nothing really pretty either. Even when up a man (and creating a couple of goal chances) RBS still looked off. Lots of misplaced passes, ignoring the open man and turning over possession.
