He's just a sturdy, solid player in a spot that most teams struggle with. Sad for Fulham but he'll be ok. He's gonna have a nice long 10+ year career in the EPL.

The only solace is Lille came up on the tube first, so I didn't have to experience the treachery live.

I really do have a soft spot for FFC, for their American connection and their perpetual breaking of my heart. I do hope for the loyal Cottagers they can still scrape this out somehow...

Didn't capture the exact quote, but someone tweeted 'if I hear one more time that Fulham and Newcastle meet on the final matchday, I'll ..." but there's no doubt that a head-to-head relegation match between those two would be exciting.

Fulham will need to earn some points along the way, beforehand, but time's running out. What a painful blow today must have been.

Yeah, both for the points and for what the last few games say about their next few games. To not be able to salvage anything from any number of 1 goal games... it's just gotta be soul-crushing.

It's running out, and fast. Playing Newcastle on the final day means nothing unless Fulham are less than 3 points behind, or 3 points behind with a GD, max, 3 goals.

After last night's game, Fulham are 3 points and 2 goals in arrears and Newcastle have two games in hand with just 6 games to go. Neither has an easy run-in, but if 'the Toon' win even one of those two games . . .

Ream should be asking Antonee to ask Parker if he might get 1 more appearance before the season ends.

Fulham only has six games left:
    @ Arsenal
    @ Chelsea
    vs. Burnley
    @ So'ton
    @ United
    vs. Newcastle

    Newcastle has 8 games left:
    @ Burnley
    vs. West Ham
    @ L'pool
    vs. Arsenal
    @ L'ester
    vs. City
    vs. Sheffield
    @ Fulham

Realistically, Fulham can get other 4 points before the final game, while Newcastle has a chance to get other 7. N'castle sits 3 points above already.

Brighton and Burnley are in an even better position, both with 8 games left too, but with 6 and 7 points on Fulham.

So realistically Fulham are goners, and likely before the final day, so Tim is not unlikely to play in that last one, as a goodbye --and because it won't matter.

And Newcastle did, indeed win one of those two games, beating Burnley 2-1, after going a goal down thanks to a brilliant cameo from Alain St Maximilien, who got a goal and an assist in his first game since contracting COVID in November.

Fulham are now 6 points behind and Newcastle have a game in hand, plus Alain St. Maximilien and Callum Wilson back from injury. Unless Brighton or Burnley suffer a late-season collapse, it's over for Fulham

The more observant among you will have noticed the glaring great mistake in that post. Yesterday wasn't St. Maximin's first game back after catching COVID in November (he got a fair bit of PT in February), but 33 minutes in a crunch game means that he's almost back to full fitness after a month out with a groin strain.

From this morning's Guardian 10 Talking Points from the Weekend column:
    6) Could Robinson earn himself a move from Fulham?
Adama Traoré’s last-gasp winner at Craven Cottage deflected attention from the nonsensical application of VAR that had denied Willian José his first Wolves goal. It also took the shine off an outstanding performance from the Fulham left wing-back Antonee Robinson, who was the game’s best player and – not for the first time – posed a constant menace from the flank. Robinson was at the heart of Fulham’s most promising moments while operating tenaciously in his own half too. Fulham are likely to go down if they cannot get something from the imminent visits to Arsenal and Chelsea, so their standout performers from this campaign may prove tempting fodder in the pre-season transfer market. Robinson, a tenacious and tricky runner with an excellent delivery, arrived for only £2m from Wigan in August but Fulham would make a handsome profit out of him now. Nick Ames

If he almost earned a move to AC Milan while at Wigan, he'll find more offers this summer if Fulham goes down.

Maybe. More than a year on, there's been plenty of time to acquire another LB to replace the two that were on their way out the door. The thing is, they haven't. Theo Hernandez is the only specialist LB on the roster and, because Milan play a traditional back 4, he's gone gone 90' in nearly every game in every competition this season: 34 appearances, with 8 Serie A games to go.

They'll need to sign a back-up LB to take some of the load, but whether they'll pay what Fulham can command for Antonee - 12 million, with add-ons IMO - is another story.

At 23 he should be looking to move to a team where he's going to get minutes, not somewhere to be a bench option and backup to an established player. And no, he wasn't displacing Theo Hernandez.

In something of an upset, Newcastle have just beaten West Ham 3-2 to move 9 points clear of Fulham on 35 points with the same number of games played. Brighton and Burnley are 7 points clear on 33, but both have a game in hand and Brighton have a much superior goal difference.

35 points was enough to keep Villa up last season, the lowest level in a decade. Just to reach that number, Fulham will have to win half of their remaining games and then they have to pray that that none of the other three sides pick up any more points. Time for Antonee's agent to start canvassing for loan destinations

Heartbreaking. By all accounts he had a helluva game. I don’t want Fulham to go down, but if they do, I hope Antonee can land with a premier league team, for USMNT reasons. I think he belongs in a top league.

but I’m so gutted for Fulham.

Unfortunately questions will be asked about his marking on the far post as he was the closest Fulham player to the scorer who ghosted in behind Antonee to meet the ball. I don’t know why they switched him to the right in those dying minutes. Really tough pill to swallow. The sequence though started with decordova Reid gifting Arsenal a corner though and i said to myself that if Arsenal score the equalizer Fulham have no one else to blame.

Fulham wasted soooo much time in the last 10 minutes. Arreola had some mysterious injury requiring him to stay down for like 2 minutes at one point. That was the difference between winning and a draw.

The real questions should lie with the player who intentionally played the ball out for that Arsenal corner, despite being the only player within 20 years of the ball. He had plenty of time to control it and hoof it.
