I still maintain that the new logo should be a photo of the man who saved the Chicago Fire from success and relevancy-Andrew Hauptman. Maybe a drawing of him in an elevator (perhaps in "smell-a-vison") No, on second thought...
Doubleday & Cartwright, the design organization responsible for the Fire Crown logo has nothing on their site mentioning their work with the Fire anymore. It makes me laugh, good, they should be ashamed! I don’t blame them as much as Fire leadership though. Given all the sign offs we are seeing is necessary from the Fire to MLS HQ to Adidas, I can’t fathom how such a wretched logo ever made it so far, let alone got approval from all involved.
Pretty wild right? But then you see a lot of the designs coming out of MLS these days... I’m convinced that these orders for minimalistic designs comes from Garber himself. It can’t be a coincidence.
Between my Fire Crown gear and my Detroit Tigers gear I'm able to represent both gangs that like to skirmish in my neighborhood.
I’d just like to point out that my alma mater signed an apparel deal with adidas today; it goes into effect June 1st and includes a “brand refresh” with new uniforms in the fall. The Fire can’t get a red shirt for 3 years.
Maybe the Fire don't want to go back to red and are really hoping that people start liking the blue and so they are just blaming adidas for not being able to switch to red?
They’re just playing to our own strengths…. Research Finds That Red Is for Winners https://www.nytimes.com/2005/05/19/science/research-finds-that-red-is-for-winners.html "Across a range of sports, we find that wearing red is consistently associated with a higher probability of winning," Dr. Russell Hill and Dr. Robert Barton, researchers in evolutionary anthropology at the University of Durham, wrote in a paper that appears today in the journal Nature.
OK, I thought the Brooklyn Booger was terrible, but it appears Columbus has tried to outdo Chicago’s suckiness with their new logo.
Wow. That’s inexplicably bad. The one they had was really good! Why change at all? In a way it makes me feel better. If an MLS Cup winning club can destroy its image, then maybe I shouldn’t feel so badly about the Fire doing the same.
Are they dropping their stupid nickname finally? At least that’d be a step in the right direction. Also ******** Columbus.
As much as I dislike the Crew, this new branding is total Sh#t. Why not just have a city name and put SC or FC in front of it. What a total Cluster f$ck
Columbus is lucky to have a major league team at all. Their new logo is plain but fine. Keeps their colors and looks like a sports logo (unlike the turd we have now). Anybody who is going to stop watching the team because they’re not “the Crew” anymore needs a life. Management even is keeping it as the official nickname.
I disagree on the aesthetics of the new logo (I think it's a turd and the current one is better), but agree 100% on the name thing. Good to see some owners have the courage to piss off a few fans short term in order to have team name that doesn't suck long term.
Holy hell that might be the worst logo I've ever seen! I never thought I'd welcome back the village people shield
