SO who knew the hand wringing gatekeepers at Big soccer were incorrect about how big a deal this was. A bit of posturing on the clubs part to show they are "enforcing" the rules by giving some worn out unfit players a game off and now it is back to business as usual. I mean it is CRs 3rd offense ffs. Let this be a lesson Wes if you want to break the rules do it with an international ICON so the punishment is only token.
He'll be fine, but he still needs to pick up his game to remain a rotation starter and not be demoted to just sub guy. The enthusiasm is there, the technique is almost there, but the vision is, at times, meh.
I just hope he's healthy again. His dip in form began in February when he picked up that hip issue. Can't believe it's not a factor.
Pick up his game? WTH are you on about? He was playing hurt, because he was undroppable. It stands to reason as his health and fitness improves his game will too. Dude is running a marathon about every 7 to 10 days, and that has to take a toll on even a young man.
I hope Weston kills it the rest if the reason, but he was very fortunate on the timing of that boneheaded decision.
You're right on the nose on this one. I think we're going to have a long haul to overcome this virus. The vaccine will be annually rolled into the one we have for flu and H1N1 and make adjustments annually for the new strains. This is not going to end soon, but I do think the effect on society will lessen as governments realize that the virus is not the end of civilization, just a new reality
In gaming language, it's the ultimate nerf: it won't kill us, but it becomes part of our genome and makes us all a bit less resistant, a bit weaker, a bit more easily tired, and having inexplicable symptoms from time to time.
The signifcant difference with this virus is the longterm effects that it has on a small percentage of the population, the terrible lung injury, loss of taste and smell, and massive blood clotting issues.
We are never really going to come to grips with the reality of the Covid pandemic because the reality is too grim. More Americans died in Jan than in Dec. More in Dec than in any of the previous months. Lingering heart, brain, organ issues in hospitalized patients. The trauma of how much we collectively surrendered and let this happen is too heavy to confront. We will let it blend into a stew of maladies going forward unless a variant erupts with sufficient force to require focused response.
Agreed. We need a post-mortem analysis at a federal and state level, and then at the UN, though to make sure that we learn from our responses to this and how we can improve in future. Many failures occurred at every level and world wide of course, but the development and implementation of a vaccine so rapidly is an extremely promising and reassuring response that should provide some level of confidence to the population going forward.
Hi all. Let's move the discussion away from Covid, per se. We've drifted into an area that has little connection to Weston. Thanks.

At least they gave Lampard a second season and a giant pile of transfer cash. I know that's a blessing and a curse. This does seem to be a trend. If you have a team in transition, put a famous former player in charge. He is inexperienced, but it is a popular and understandable choice. They oversee a disappointing season, and everybody understands when such an inexperienced manager is canned. Then, transition farther along, you put in the manager you really want.
If Pirlo's job actually depends on a result in this game, then in my opinion he's already gone. There's so much luck in one result. This game could easily be 3-0 Juve. How was that not a penalty when Chiesa got completely wiped out? On the other hand, how was that not a penalty for Napoli at the end of the half? So much comes down to randomness.

Juve win 2-1. Wes provided spark off the bench and kissed Dybala after the latter's goal. All is well for the Old Lady, at least for tonight.
Good win for the Old Lady, hopefully Wes doesn't celebrate by throwing a party! I'll be here all week, and please tip your servers.
