ESPN Soccer Thread

I can't justify the cost to stream just one thing, and that would be why I would get it since there's absolutely no other reason why I would subscribe to it. I have cable, Netflix, Disney+, ESPN+, and MLB.TV. That's good enough, and if it were up to me I'd only keep ESPN+ and MLB.tv, but I apparently have to take my family into consideration.

 

Since Serie A is going to Paramount will the Coppa Italia stay on ESPN?

 

That's good for me because I'm moving and I pay for ESPN Plus.

 

I'm in the same boat. I'm not paying for Paramount + and I'm not getting rid of ESPN+ as it has way too much content I enjoy.

I'll find other ways to watch my Napoli games.

 

Hmm, didn't know about that $30 promo... that equates to $2.50/mo. Does that by definition include all the UEFA footy that they have been or will be showing on CBS All Access? And do you know that happens when the 1yr promo runs out? What does it jump to? Can you cancel at that point no questions asked?

 

It will cover everything.

Since August I have been stringing together one month promos through the Champions League: find a free month coupon and then cancel. It has worked well. You have access to everything.

With the addition of Serie A and the World Cup stuff, I am definitely going to do the half price year before it expires.

I would assume that it will automatically renew you for an annual sub at whatever the annual price is next year. So set an alarm if you want to cancel! Things fluctuate so much in the TV soccer space that I normally don't want to get stuck with a service. But if they have more than a single competition, I am OK with it.

I didn't subscribe to ESPN+ until last August and I find it awesome. Its gotten me way more into the Bundesliga & Serie A than I was before. I've also taken to watching the Championship regularly.

You know what I pay much less attention to now? The Premiership. I don't have cable so I always DVR the EPL NBC/Telemundo matches, but, honestly, I often wind up not watching them because I'm more invested in what's going on in Germany and Italy.

 

Yes, it includes all of the soccer, CL, Europa, Argentine (starting Mar 26) and NWSL now. Italian and Brazilian leagues at start of the next season I think Also includes all CONCACAF qualifiers except those held in USA and Mexico (everything but USA and Mexico home games). You can cancel whenever you want, and it will either renew at $5 monthly or $60 annually. It's the best deal in soccer by a good distance other than ESPN+, and for $2.50 a month I'm not sure how anyone can say they can't afford it. Sign up and put a calendar reminder in a year to cancel.

 

Thanks guys for the advice on Paramount+ I'm gonna do it, and at the very least I get to watch UCL/UEL for their run-in's.

OTOH, I'm sure to jinx things by doing this. Arsenal will go out in the next round of Europa and I'll be blaming myself. Yeah right, who am I kidding... we'll be going out to Slavia Prague in the QF's anyway!

Well, if Arsenal goes out Europa, with Paramount+ you can still watch Arsenal. Arsenal de Sarandi, that is, in the Argentina Copa la Liga Profesional. But don't get your hopes up, they are at the bottom of the table with only a point after 6 matches!

 

I've been watching Arsenal in Spanish for free (or BT Sport on my IPTV thing). I can't justify playing for yet another streaming service lol.

With Paramount+ getting Serie A now .......grrrrrr

 

I just signed up for the 50% off Paramount+ deal. I think I might've noticed something that said today (3/31/21) is the last day they're running that promo? If so, then anyone sitting on the fence, this might nudge them?

I did year long subscriptions on ESPN+, Paramount+, and Peacock because those subs basically included a few free months, which makes me feel better about the months when there is no football to watch.

Man, ESPN is killing me with the WCQ. I appreciate that they are putting games on ESPN and ESPN2 (in theory, although I have ESPN+ so really don't care from a personal viewing standpoint). But do they really need to hire a bunch of freelancers to cover the games instead of using the feed commentary? Is this what we can expect with the Euros this summer? The thing that annoys me is that the analysts almost universally have studied at the politicians' school for public speak: make sure you sound like you are mad at all times and never speak in sentences, always speak in phrases.

 

Yeah, I thought ESPN was all about cost-cutting these days with all the people they've let go yet they pay for an inferior PxP product. I guess it's just so they can promote other stuff on ESPN and the Disney family.

 

And then can Fox Soccer Plus finally die off? It's at the point where I (sarcastically) wonder if Fox still even knows they have that channel.

 

Color me shocked...but they've also fallen far from their glory days.

Me, you could not pay me to subscribe to their pay service.
