They have that Arsenal mentality. Ultimately playing for CL places year after year is not enough to sustain a club long term. I also think the absence of fans has really hurt them (and Liverpool) this season.
Eh, he came on in the 80th minute of a tied game that they really needed to win. And he played pretty well. It’s clear that he’s slipped down the pecking order a bit, but he needs a bit of rest and he’s playing for a lame duck coach, so I wouldn’t make anything of this long-term.
We’ll see how things go with champions league starting back this week. They should be rotating the squad some and hopefully he gets at least some Bundesliga starts. He might even start against City.

Lol. I’m surprised knauff is starting. I’m not surprised gio reyna is on the bench. Let’s hope this brings him more motivation and FINALLY gets out of this terrible run of form.
I had to look up who Knauff is just now. Google asked me if I meant to type "Knauf," which is apparently a German company known for drywall gypsum boards. Knauff is apparently a 19 year old kid that's never started a professional game before, and has only made two Bundesliga appearances in his career?
I think it depends on week to week training, and getting some goals and assists again. From winter of '19-'20 thru September of '20 he was on fire, since like late October he's been horrific, not just bad, but horrific (at least in raw counting stats). What made me happy is that he looked a lot better with the USMNT, still icky body language, still flubbing some chances, but he layed off some beautiful potential assists, had multiple chances to score, and did score. All of that should help because before that it was basically nearly six months of literally nothing.
While we are all here... winger depth for USMNT Pulisic Weah Aaronson Reyna wouldn’t have guessed back in November that gio would be fourth in that group.
Weah is #2 for you? Not Aaronson? I love Weah, but come on now. He’s not exactly setting Lille on fire, and we haven't seen him for the NT in ages.
Aaronson is the clear backup to CP right now and it's not close. I would go so far as to say that if CP was injured god forbid, we'd be good with Aaronson filling in.
Manager desperately trying to find a team that can win and provide some spark. Interested to see who subs in.
the closest i ever came to supporting a club is dortmund, so its tough rooting against them today until gio comes on but such is this yanks abroad life we have chosen
In a sense. It was more of a promotion from asst coach and an interim. Why are you rooting against them?
City plays prettier soccer. PS: Steffen vs. Reyna --psychic battle from the benches. PPS: Thankfully none of the transmissions in Spanish or French use that horrid fake crowd noise.
