FT: 1-0 Lille over PSG. Huge result! The bounceback performance takes them 3 points clear atop the table.

As for Tim, he was invisible as a cf. Just not enough of a target to fit most styles at the position. Came to life a little bit moving to the wing. Could have had an assist for the sealer on a splitting pass to Yilmaz on the break. But the Turk's shot was saved.

red card for Neymar so he'll be missing the next match. Probably doesn't matter but surely doesn't hurt Lille's title campaign

    7 matches remaining

This guy, with Arob, Tyler Boyd, Siebatcheu, Nova and several others, is a total mystery to me. I have no idea what others see in such players. I watch and watch and all I see is guys who have a little flash here or there, but nothing else.

He's fast and he moves well off the ball. Occasionally finishes well.

To be fair to Tim he was mostly invisible because of the way Lille were playing against PSG for most of the 2nd half. I think he did fairly well with the chances he had.

While Tim’s speed is a blessing, I think getting by on it has prevented him from improving other CF oriented qualities. His speed is a huge difference maker to be on the other end of a killer thru pass or a perfectly weighted overhead pass; the problem is those types of passes are hard for even quality teams to make often.

He just turned 21. Lumping him in with the others, who to your point are journeymen, is pretty unfair. He’s a contributor to a team at the top of a top 5 league and has a good deal of upside.

yeah dude is quite hyperbolic and often seems to enjoy underselling us players for some reason.

Weah has had a great season for the first place team in France....

    what are you on about??

It's hard to imagine David returning this season, if the report of a 'lateral ligament rupture' in his right ankle is accurate. Many weeks, or several months, would seem more likely than several weeks, especially in terms of 100% game fitness.

In any event. Weah needs to step up his game right now and bang in some more goals.

Here's what remains - Ligue 1 games only (current position of 20):

    Fri 4/9 (tomorrow) @ Metz (9th)

    Fri 4/16 v Montpellier (8th)

    Sun 4/25 @ Lyon (4th)

    Sun 5/2 v Nice (10th)

    Sun 5/9 @ Lens (5th)

    Sun 5/16 v St Etienne (15th)

    Sun 5/23 @ Angers (11th)

The PSG game is behind them, but it's not an easy run in, with games against teams 4/5/8/9/10/11/15 and plenty of chances to drop points.

PSG has a somewhat easier remaining schedule (on paper) but with at least one CL match still to play, and quite possibly an additional two or three.

It's that last bit that is important. They are going all out for that second leg against the Bavarians, and if they manage to score as many as Bayern score, they're through. If they get into the next round, I would say that the title is going to be Lille's as PSG will need to manage some of their players' minutes and have been shown to be a little leaky in terms of Ligue Un results this season.

One of these guys gets playing time and contributes for the first place team in France. The others are second division players.

Your general point stands but Antonee Robinson is in the EPL.

Want to see players who contribute continuously in a game and as part of a team? Watch Adams, McKennie, Sargent, Pulisic, Dest.

Some you can see their value, but for others you have to dig to find it. When you find yourself doing the latter, and live only for the one-good-moment in the month, then you're being a homer.

PS: Add Green, CCV and Cameron to the list of guys who contribute each time they're on the field.

I am a big fan of Weah, and I think he is going to be a very good player. The only problem is he seems to be a tweener. So he doesn’t seem to be able to ever focus on one position. Maybe this a good thing, not sure.

Give him a little more time playing at central forward.

I was in favor of Weah not getting tied to USMNT because I thought he had his best chance with Jamaica - as far as p.t. at the WC was concerned.

However, I may have made the mistake of not factoring in the possibility that Weah was still dealing with teen growth-spurt type stuff. He seems to be playing with far more control over his play these days. Pulisic had those problems which is why I never got too excited like a lot of people on Pulisic's miles long thread on YA. Weah seems to have filled out and lost his gangly clumsiness.

Weah never played all that well at wing, imo, apart from the worldie he apprpriately put away at u17's (goal of the tourney, iirc). He has not had a lot of chances at the 9.
