They finally go with a two forward system, and then they don’t start him.

How can they bench Man United’s future striker this way?

Sucks he didn't get any minutes together with Huntelaar. But, the kid will have to learn that you have to perform to play. He hasn't been doing so terrific the past 4-5 games.

How can Schalke even field a team then?

If there ever was an argument for the mercy rule in Bundesliga relegation, Schalke might be it.

If this was boxing, the BL would have relegated them 2 months ago.

They're just trying everything. Since Hoppe was also part of the problem, it was time to try other things up front. They're doomed anyway.

I just don't understand Huntelaar getting all of these minutes for Schalke. If they were only 5-6 points from safety, I'd understand going with the experienced option to see if they could string together a few wins. But they're definitely getting relegated, so why not spend this time evaluating younger players and getting them experience?

Good to see Schalke get the win. I to would have gone with a healthy Hunterleer. The team needed a win to boost morale. Hoppe did get some time.

Maybe I'm reading way too much into it. But I think Schalke really dont rate Hoppe that highly, and the fact they could potentially get 5 million for them is, in their eyes, highway robbery. Maybe they think his value will only drop, and they want to protect that potential income.

I think you’re probably reading too much into it. From where I sit, they have just looked clueless and devoid of any plans for awhile, and this fits that theme.

You're probably right. I'm approaching the question as if there is some sort of reasoning behind it. But Schalke this season has been devoid of any kind of logic.

Guys is Hoppe actually good? I haven’t been able to bring myself to watch Schalke after the goals dry up. It seems like he never touches the ball basically.
