So the team has emailed us with our options for the 2021 season. What are folks going to do? I'm legitimately torn. My 2nd shot is a week before the home opener, so that *one* match is in a gray area for me personally....but my daughter is 10 and nobody has *any* idea when vaccine for those under 16 is happening. How are other folks leaning?
Same here. I really cannot answer the poll at this point. Edit: In keeping with Big Soccer, Chicago Fire Forum policy: 1,000 negative reps for no "Rubber Dick" or "Something Stupid Will Happen" options.
I will likely catch a couple Forward Madison games. I am a little upset the Fire are not playing Minnesota, as I can get there easily.
I wrote my rep to ask what the "change your mind" option actually looks like if you go Option 2 and to confirm you have to pay full freight on tickets with your april/may credit if you go Option 1 depending on those answers, I was at first Option 1, but now leaning Option 2
Getting my second covid shot tomorrow so I'm ready to go to all the games. Got a call from the fire and they said if you are a season ticket holder you probably won't get your seats due to social distancing. They will call later with more details.
Not a STH but will try to attend every game I can. Need to get the most out of my time in the South Loop after a year was wasted, before I'm inevitably forced out to the burbs.
After talking timelines with my doc, I have come to the opinion that I have to punt this season. I am sure that 1998 to 2010 STH me would feel I am making a terrible mistake....but since the arrival of my daughter, seeing the games with her is a gigantic part of what's meaningful about it for me. The timeline my doc is expecting for her vaccination, given where the studies are at for those under 16, is that it's likely she won't get a first shot until August at the earliest and that means September or later before she's cleared. That's basically the whole season. It's possible that I'll hit a few matches on single game tickets when she's with her mom, but there's no way I am trying to take her into a crowd of us (in our various stages of "drinking") until she's fully vaccinated and I don't have to worry about every single thing that happens. I'm really not happy about the situation....though in a fresh turn of events, this is the first time in more than a decade where I am mad about soccer and it *isn't* something the Fire are ********ing up. I see the choices they're presenting and how they're handling it as very reasonable.
yeah, I feel like the options are very fair given the circumstances, though there are a few unanswered pieces that may change my opinion of how fair
Curious where they are in this process. Any STHs have an idea on when they'll have opener tickets in hand? Wondering when we'll start seeing them on Stubhub, as I'll be very surprised if the team has any available for the general public.
Apparently they are still working on the details. My rep said no printed tickets everything will be digital on your phone.
saw on reddit that someone asked their rep if they get the $25/seat price in 2022 if they go with option 1 and they were told yes changes my thinking if that's true
Talked to my ticket rep Jessica and she said in April and May the fire was limited to 7,000 fans in the stands. I don't understand that I thought it was 25% of capacity which would be more than that. The Cubs and Sox have smaller capacities so they are limited to 7-8,000. I also asked how many season ticketholders they had and all she would say is they have a lot. She said they would soon be calling season ticketholders who opted for option 1 to pick what games they would go to. She also said not everyone could have the seats they picked because of distancing requirements.
The recent rise in COVID cases led Mayor Lightfoot to hint today that she may roll back limited attendance at Cubs and Sox games. One would believe the Fire would also be affected.
Decided today- I am waiting until 2022. I got my second shot this week, but my family isn’t vaccinated yet, and IL Covid numbers are rising again. Next year!
I am leaning towards the same. I have to decide by the end of the day. My partner wants us to defer, even though I have one shot done and she has her first scheduled for Monday.
