tap-in goal for Djordje in the Olympic qualifying game just now two assists previously in the game as a halftime sub
Yes I just finally caught the highlights on this one two days later. Good for him. https://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2...-republic-late-goals-are-better-than-no-goals
Does anyone have 2001 Chicago Fire team photo with Eric Wynalda? I looked for this photo on the internet, but I didn't find it.
While not our best ever, he was great to watch. Watching him struggle to make up for the diminished team around him in the second half of his time was tough though.
Nice interview in the Guardian today with Arne Friedrich. Hertha's gain. . . our loss. Hertha Berlin's Arne Friedrich: 'Focus on the joy of the game, not fear of losing' | Football | The Guardian
Former Chicago Fire great Jesse Marsch is moving on up again. Jesse Marsch to replace Julian Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/56925386 "Jesse has been part of the Red Bull football group for over six years now and has done incredible work in all his roles so far, constantly developing step-by-step," added Mintzlaff. What a fantastic career, especially his post-playing career, he has had. 14 seasons in MLS with DC, the Fire and Chivas USA. Three MLS Cups (although he only played in one ), appearance in two additional MLS Cups. Four US Open Cups. Coach of the Year in MLS. Won the double with Red Bull Salzburg last year, looks like they are going to do it again this season (in the Cup final and leading the league). [of course RB Salzburg has been pretty dominant in Austria lately] And now taking over a top team in the Bundesliga. [Yes, Red Bull Leipzig is a "new" team, but their rise has been pretty amazing.] Good for Jesse Marsch. Always hard working and a really nice guy.
My podcast did a fun interview with Drew Conner about playing in the Czech league and his plans with Chicago House: https://anchor.fm/sab-bois/episodes/Sad-Bois-Loanees-Drew-Conner-e115esm
...and he had not even scored yet in almost 20 minutes. Bench him! He did stop a free kick with his head. Edit: Hungary scores at the death of the first half. Not Nikolic, though. Nikolic was wide open but Fiola buried it.
Former Fire "legend" Shaun Maloney on the Belgium bench as an assistant to Roberto Martinez An article about him from the BBC this morning https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/57626569
Jesse Marsch and his appointment as RB Leipzig manager made the local online paper up here. I guess because he is a Wisconsin native, hailing from Racine. Strangely, no mention of his time with the Fire. https://wausaupilotandreview.com/2021/07/09/american-coach-jesse-marsch-proud-to-take-over-at-leipzig/?ct=t(RSS_EMAIL_CAMPAIGN)&mc_cid=052ad408f8&mc_eid=925fc0fa2e
Luis Solignac apparently plays for El Paso Locomotive in the USL. Watching El Paso vs New Mexico United.
