Not trying to start a flame war or any attacks, but where do YOU see Donovan at in Leverkusen?

I am baffled. LD can only help the team so why all the resentment towards him? No one is saying he is a world superstar but he is very good. He will fit in nicely with the squad. How many of you guys actually support Leverkusen as YOUR favorite club? I do and I think Im the only one who displyas there team as being Leverkusen. I am glad, he is here! Most of you guys have other teams listed as your favorites.

My thing with Donovan is he has the talent and theres no arguement there. I think the main problem is how a number of people think he will walk in and start right away. This sit he problem I have which is why I made the poll so you can have multiple options in voting.

I believe he will start off as a sub and if he does well there and earns playing time, he could be in the first XI.

I agree with you on this, no doubt he is a good player. But he will need to start in a subbing role and hopefully for him he gets added to the first 11.

Does anyone have links to english Bundesliga websites, can't seem to find many, also any english wirtten Eredivisie sites would be wonderful as well.
    Thanks

I don't think he's crap, but I really doubt that he will make it in the first team in his first half-year. Donovan won't get past Ponte in good shape. Next season, when he became used to the leauge and the team, he will have a good chance to make in the 1st XI.

Skysports.com is the only one I know, but it's quite good, at least the Bundesliga part.

He'll probably start out as a sub and come into the team during the next two to three months. I see him having a similar status as Franca, not a 100 % sure starter, but somewhere in between a regular starter and a sub. I think he'll start 12-15 games in all competitions this year, but probably no more than that, and will probably appear in a total of around 20 games before the season is over. I think he will do ok, but won't set the world on fire. I can see him scoring 4-5 goals and add a few assists to that, which won't be anything to be ashamed of for your first European half-season.

I don't see him ever getting to the superstar status of the likes of Henry, Ronaldinho, Shevshenko, Nedved,...

I see him more in the league of Bowyer, Jardel, Dani, who are all above average talented and skilled footballers who seem to miss a lil something for the absolute top teams, but are great for the teams just below that.

Landon will obviously take some time to break into the starting XI, but I think he will be a solid starter maybe next season. Also, Landon can go in at a few positions--which could be useful. The rest of the season is going to be him readjusting - so I am not going to be upset if he does not start every game.

How is this deemed to be a trolling reply? Because he hasn't proclaimed Donovan as the greatest talent since Maradona? Looks like an honest opinion to me.

Or is anyone who casts doubt on LD's ability or impact immediately banned?

My eyes must have been lying to me all these years while watching Donovan.

All I see is a lightning quick kid with very good touch, unreal vision and the ability to finish. Oh, and he can run all day and night seemingly without tiring.

Bayer Leverkusen is a very, very good and skilled team. Donovan will fit right in and likely become their most talented player. He IS that good.

Now, see, how can you claim this? Isn't it better to wish the lad good luck and wait and see what happens, rather than proclaiming him the next Diego and heaping hype on him?

I think he will do very well. He is a direct player with good speed and a nice first touch. No fluke that he has been named the top American soccer player for a number of years running. I suspect he will be in the starting eleven once he gets a bit of familiarity with his teammates.

I agree with starting 11, Donovan has excellent speed and a knack for scoring. But I'm mystified at why Rupert's post was considered trolling. After all, what he described was exactly what happened once before, so he's got a case for saying it will happen again.

That said, it's only a matter of time before Rupert wears out his welcome, the guy is just a troll. Anyone who's been around awhile has seen his obnoxious routine. I believe he has been redcarded in the past, or one of his other monikers has.

Herr Rupert was banned for continuing to troll after I told him to stop. In fact, it was after I warned him twice.

I assumed the question was for this season only, and after some deliberation, chose supersub over first XI.

But he'll definitely get his minutes. In pressure games, he has been by far MLS' best player.

I think he will get plenty of opportunities and if he can control his temper and stubborness and rise to the occasion and make some plays, that we all know he can he will be able to break in and earn some respect and more playing time. He won't just get to start straight off the plane though, it will take some time but if he performs when he does get playing time we will see alot of him in the future. He has to step up and find his niche for his new team.
