We have a Subaru Ascent, but we got the captain chairs instead of the bench seat in the middle, so it is literally a glorified minivan.

 

I just bought an Impreza. Manual shift.

 

Daughter still has her Impreza 2.5 RS that she's kept in good shape. She won't part with it but mostly uses the '06 Element I gave her. Both have well over 100k miles and run great.

 

Sigh. I had a little blue 2000 2.5RS that I absolutely loved and would still be driving if some kid hadn't crashed into me and totaled it. That car was fun.

 

I took it to the local HS band fund-raising carwash. None of the kids knew how to drive a stick shift. They had to get one of the older teachers. I now refer to my car as having a 5-speed anti-theft device.

 

There are stories about potential carjackers having to turn away for this very reason.
