1) my nixonland is "dying of whiteness" give that book a read. 2) This morning, Sen. Roy Blunt became the fifth Republican incumbent to say he won't be on the ballot next year. His decision is certain to set off a messy GOP primary in Missouri. https://t.co/1WduWK4Q5e— POLITICO (@politico) March 8, 2021
They know what they're giving up. Fact is, they'd rather struggle with thirst than drink water that's provided to POCs as well. What they want is increased/expanded White privilege, and the GOP gives them that. "You know, I tried to talk about good roads and good schools and all these things that have been part of my career, and nobody listened. And then I began talking about n*****s, and they stomped the floor." -George Wallace I'm not sure you truly understand the needs of the American center-right...
I just put it on hold at my public library. By the way, if you want some unintentionally funny and pathetic things to read, check out the book's one star reviews on Amazon... none of which appear to be authored by people who have read the book beyond the title.
I mean I get what you are saying but it is a truly strange state of affairs when Dem politicians are sending wealth transfers to GOP voters whereas GOP politicians are blocking wealth transfers to their own voters. I also raised this in respect of the Missouri ACA expansion ballot initiative. The initiative passed, even though the state is red. But the voters who voted for it tended to be wealthier surbanites, whereas rural voters who need it tended to vote against it But then as is typical in the state, it will all get screwed up because the local GOP is essential corrupt and beholden to special interest. So I do get that racism is a part but there is more to it than that, and it digs in to the entire question of why the supposed GOP populist working class party never does any populism except about the muppets
The Rich GOP like the country club Republicans steal from the country and poor. They take 8 out of every 10 dollars. Then they have Hawley tell Bigo and friends lookout the Dems want to take your two dollars and make you share it, with the blacks and foreigners. So now they are all ginned up to vote for the GOP. Why didnt Bigo catch them steal his 8 dollars? Well he was watching Fox News as it happened.
The caravan full of ISIS terrorists and MS13 rapists is late. It was supposed to arrive in early November.
Up until the Garland fiasco, I was still supportive of maintaining the filibuster. Because I'm an optimist. But the Reps won't use it responsibility, and it has been pointed out that when it comes to legislative social advancement, they have used the filibuster since 1950s. And now they are likely to use the filibuster because they intend to opposed everything democratic/Democratic.
Why? I just read your recommend reviews and the book is 800+ pages of bigoted, boring, and ugly lists that one can Google. Don't waste your time, return the book and read Evan Thomas's bio instead.
Made me look. The library tells me it's 1) in transit to my neighborhood branch and 2) 341 pages. Phew.
Small sample size. But the only one against a $15 min. wage is the middle age white dude. The other owners say good wages = better employee retention https://www.cnn.com/2021/03/09/us/15-minimum-wage-employees-small-business/index.html

I listened to two different podcasts today (Bullwark and PSA) and in both they mentioned how Obama failed at promoting his administration’s accomplishments (besides being a little fuzzy and difficult for o promote) and ended up losing power for the Dems for a decade. Both also mentioned that Biden and the DNC seem to be not only focused on passing a very popular agenda, but more eager to claim credit for it.
Before he declared Biden was on PSA talking about the times and then broadcast and one of the things that could touch down was about Trump bragging about stuff. He asked me why him and Barack didnt spend more time talking about the accomplishments. Biden said Barack would say we had too much to do and that if we keep working the people will tell. I think that was par Barack's naivete but also a realization that as a black man, he goes about boasting accomplishments and it is spun as him breaking norms, him feeding his ego and so on. After watching Mango for 4 years and realizing the vast amount of low information voters, Bidens team is well aware the importance of not only marketing the vaccine but their work to get things back to normal.
It seems to me more than a stretch to claim that because Barack Obama didn't boast, that he took the Democrats out of power. Trump boasted more than anybody ever did, and within 4 years his party lost the Presidency, House, and Senate. One might think that that Trump's experience might lead those pundits to rethink their assertion. Yeah, not so much. I ain't buying.
I don't know if it's boasting. I think Biden has a better understanding that the dems need to just tell the truth about what they are doing in order to counter the torrent of lies coming from the gop and fox.
Yeah, but Trump was the worst president of all time by a factor of, like, 10, and he almost won. Without the bragging and the amplification of the right wing wurlitzer he probably would have gotten smoked. In other news, Biden is pushing a wind farm off the coast of wherever the Kennedy compound is. It's been held up by rich ********s. The downside is, the site has been moved so the Kennedys don't have to see it, but I'm going to be an optimist and perceive it as the camel's nose under the tent.
A new Urban Institute study finds President Joe Biden’s pandemic relief plan will reduce the projected poverty rate for 2021 by more than one-third, from 13.7% to 8.7%.
Trump was within 44k votes of winning again, and part of it is misinformation. It's not the only component to it, but in the heads of a lot of many casual observers, DC politics don't help make things better for them. They might not be many and not all of them can be convinced, but it does help to advertise what government is doing for the people, and also, how republicans oppose every measure to provide help. Will that save the Democrats majority in 2012? Who knows, but definitely, staying quiet about the help provided or the successful vaccine rollout, or about the evil of GQP's suppression laws, will not help.
