https://vq74onyzsywibajr4coyuyhqoe-...leja-llamado-seleccion-guatemalteca-24039?amp He isn’t better than his bro so he will likely never be called up to USMNT outside of maybe some meaningless friendlies, USA’s depth pool is the very best in their history right now so getting in would be hard.
If only we had Cristian Roldan. He could have a been a starter and probably a key player. With the U.S. he's just a starting U.S. B-team player or sub. for the U.S. A-team. I would rather see him starting over Darwin Ceren in the CDM or CM role.
Joe Corona is the same, he would have had a bigger impact if he had chosen to play for El Salvador. I believe that when the World Cup expands we will see more dual nationals start to take more interest in representing us because Concacaf will have 6 slots instead of 2.5 which means a better chance of going to the WC.
Corona and Roldan both have at least 20 caps for USMNT and won a CONCACAF Gold Cup (twice for Corona). I don’t think they regret their decision. Is Danilo Acosta of LA Galaxy still eligible for El Salvador? He was a part of Honduras’ 2019 Gold Cup squad but has made no senior appearances.
He is in the preliminary list for Honduras U23 Squad and the federation president said in an interview last week that he is committed to representing Honduras.
I don't think Roldan can back out either way. I think FIFA wouldn't allow it since he might be capped tied at this point. Corona clearly doesn't he's more Mexican-American than Salvadoran-American. Also by the way he celebrated when he score on El Salvador last time. Danilo Acosta? If he doesn't have any senior cap or any official matches it shouldn't be a problem. I haven't seen any highlights or matches with him playing. I don't know how good he is.
🚨🇸🇻 ¡Otro salvadoreño en Europa!Andrés Hernández, de ascendencia cuscatleca y que jugó para la Selecta Sub 23, fue fichado por el Río Ave de Portugal. Like I posted in the U23 hopefully he can stick in Portugal. Our guys haven’t had a good track record in that country so far.
If this video is anything to go by, Alex Roldan is still keen to represent Guatemala over USA and El Salvador.
If El Salvador calls him first I wouldn't be surprised if he said yes. U.S. doesn't need him, so he might see Guate is an easier option for a national team call up.
I'm subscribed to this channel (Juan's a friend actually) and I was gonna post it to this thread. I'm very surprised you beat me to it.
Can someone explain to me why Cristian Martinez of Costa Rica hasn’t been called to the NT? He hasn’t been capped by CR as far as I know and he is still at a good age and has ton of experience in the 1st Division of CR.

Germán Giammattei has signed with the first team Dundalk FC of the Irish Premier League. Looks like they turned him into a defender since he was previously a forward. https://www.dundalkfc.com/first-team/ German Giammattei ya aparece en el primer equipo del @DundalkFC de la Premier Division de Irlanda 🇮🇪 (máxima categoría). Uno de los clubs más exitosos de ese país. Jugará de defensa! https://t.co/koY0I96N6O— El Mascón🥅 (@ElMascon_) March 28, 2021
Eric Zavaleta was the same, dude was a forward in college who transitioned into a Defender. Best of luck to German
I’m keen to know German’s height. ES has always been lacking in quality defenders, so it’ll be interesting to follow German’s career. Irish league isn’t that great, aside from Shamrock Rovers, is it?
No it’s not that great, it’s lower quality than Scottish Premier League idk how it stacks up to Iceland’s league either.
Also according to this he is 6ft tall so good size for a defender http://germangiammattei.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/german-giammattei_Amherst_2019-20-stats.pdf
Good find. With that said, I can’t shut up about Zavaleta. To have both him and Giammattei as Selecta’s back line would makes big difference in our defence thanks to their heights. I already noticed Enrico Hernandez’s height made a difference for the U23’s.
