Sad, sad day. I never actually thought we'd get a fall season, but having the official word come down is a major bummer. This whole year is an embarrassment for our country.
Well, it's not much, but IU lists 11 games on their IUHoosiers.com schedule with the first an away game on 2/19. No teams or venues listed, but there's a B1G logo to the left of each game, so it looks like there may be no non-conf games.
Stealing BRF's thunder... https://iuhoosiers.com/news/2021/1/20/mens-soccer-iums-announces-2020-21-schedule.aspx How's JY Field looking for February home matches?
IU's statement about the schedule says no fans: "Consistent with IU Athletics' ongoing efforts to protect the health and safety of students, coaches, staff, spectators and the local community, men's soccer matches will be played without fans indefinitely. IU Athletics' decision is in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and is consistent with what has transpired on all Big Ten campuses." Consistent with what? Football, where there were fans?
Happy game day! The game has been moved to Grand Park. No stream. How much snow is on the ground down south?
What happened to Callum Stretch? Was a highly regarded transfer from Denver and would've been a junior this year but is no longer listed on the IU roster.
So why not listed on the roster or in the lineup today? Did Denver not give Callum a release, forcing him to sit out a year?
I was there y'day. OSU was stronger than Wis, especially in the midfield. In the first half they were better in the air and quicker to second balls. But some of that changed in the second half. We started getting more possession and more corners. One corner led to our first goal, when the service bounced off of Muni (covered by 3 defenders) and somehow went in the goal. The second was a pretty clear penalty. Endeley got behind his man and was going to goal in the area when he was tackled from behind. Bezerra made short work of it. Finally, Bezerra blasted a 22 yd free kick into the upper 90 to complete the scoring. I think we wore them down. Their keeper was also a little shakey. Good news for IU at NU! It'll be streamed on BTN+.
Lost 1-0 at Northwestern on Saturday. IU's recap says NW's goal was a sloppy scramble in the box in the 87th minute.
Yeah. We played EXTREMELY poorly. Poor passing, too many players with a low work rate, and an inability to finish. Our D, usually the staunch foundation for our teams, had a pretty poor game. NU had a nice shot early on that hit the crossbar, bounced straight down, and out, so it could have easily been 2-0. Here's hoping it was a wake-up call. BRF
PSU postponed. Next game is Wisconsin (actually someplace indoors in IL). IU's next home game against MSU will be televised on BTN.
