Thumbs up for cbs for making extended highlights available online so quickly after the games end. They are on youtube in 30 minutes, and the quality is great.
The only problem I had was they did not start the broadcast of Lille/Ajax until the 20 minute mark which irked me as I had to find a stream to watch the first half. Bad move on CBS's part.
I'm watching the top-5 OSU vs Michigan basketball game on CBS and here's a quick commercial for the Chelsea UEFA CL match on CBS SN. That was a bit of a surprise.
The video for the Atleti-Chelsea match on CBSSN is two, maybe 3 light-years behind the audio. Unwatchable! Seems to be okay on All Access.
It seems to be ok on my TV. It's weird. As much as I like listening to announcers (and have really gotten away from the sports bar scene in recent years), I don't mind turning up music in my own house to watch some games.
They tweeted that they (Paramount +) will have English language rights to Concacaf qualifiers played outside of the USA and Mexico (previously on BeIN), Concacaf Nations League, Concacaf Women's WC qualifiers, Brazilian Serie A and Argentine Primera Division.
We'll be the home to the @NWSL. Plus, we'll have exclusive English-language rights to @Concacaf, Brazil's Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, & Argentina's Liga Profesional de Futbol. #ParamountPlus— Paramount+ (@paramountplus) February 24, 2021
ESPN and CBS are doing gods work at the moment for us football fans. Now if one of them could grab the Bein Sports properties, we will really be in business.
I never thought I'd see CBS as a soccer network, but in a few years, they could be a major player, if they're not already. Now if only they could do something about that UEFA CL studio. Pay the light bill, already. It's the exact polar opposite of the Sky Sports News studio.
Anyone else seeing the same pattern here? Fox gets Champions League, starts pushing soccer hard through buying other properties, realizes its not profitable and bails. TNT/Bleacher Report does the same thing, bails. I love all the access to watch pretty much whatever you want in 2021, but the spreading out of content on multiple streaming platforms to me isn't an improvement from having stuff on tv. Hoping that there is a Spanish sub licensing agreement to get some of those Primera and Brasilerao games on TUDN or something.
Surely though when it comes to CL and EL it is an improvement though(?). CL was never covered that much on TV. You can go back 20 years and it was similar to what we have now (one match per matchday). But now we have all the games on streaming for like $30 a year. We would have killed for that 15-20 years ago! Regarding the Primera, most of the games are already on TV (TyC). I am assuming you are talking about the Argentine Primera?
No yeah, I guess I forgot about TYC pretty much having the Primera Spanish language rights on lockdown. Would be nice to see Brasilerao get some love again on US tv, but that league was dogshit the last few years Goltv carried it. And yeah, all the champions league access is great, but I don't really enjoy watching and recording multiple games each round. The more soccer content that is available doesn't really increase the amount of time I have to watch, or even want to watch more and more. Don't get me wrong, I love having choices on weekends to basically watch any game I could want, but realistically I will only watch a couple games and don't need the access to the other 50 available to me.
Fox had games on FS1, FS2, Fox Soccer Plus, and Fox Regionals and sub licensed a game to ESPN2 (with the rest online on ESPN3). So 5 of the 8 games were “on TV.”
OK they're not showing Club Brugge - Dynamo Kyiv game. It's been 12 minutes. Instead, they're moving from one game to another.
Does anyone know if Paramount is going to show the Copa de la Liga Profesional matches that are going on this spring? The actual Primera doesn't start until July, but last fall the Liga Profesional started the Copa due to the COVID problems with restarting the Primera. I noticed that the tweet from Paramount specifically said they will be showing Liga Professional matches which I take to mean they have the rights both to this Copa and the Primera. However, today's matches didn't appear on the App. I'd be curious to know. If they are showing these matches this spring, I'll probably opt to take advantage of the half-price annual deal. Otherwise I'll probably wait. I've had good luck stringing together new accounts with free month coupons and then cancelling the account between the rounds!
It will be interesting to see if they show the current Argentine competition but note that they’re not Paramount+ until March 4.
Paramount+ might be adding another league to its stable next season. BREAKING: ESPN+'s rights to Serie A end this season. After a round of negotiations with top broadcasters, the process is now entering a 2nd round of bidding with a Wednesday deadline.A source has told us ESPN+ is expected to lose Serie A to Paramount+ but it's still wide open. pic.twitter.com/oxdTUTV6v9— World Soccer Talk (@worldsoccertalk) March 5, 2021
@SirFozzie We should change the name of this thread to Paramount+. And it's no longer limited to UCL/UEL (and conference league) rights.
A- for the spelling error, but A+ when corrected. That was odd. It must have been corrected as I posted.
Will Matteo Bonetti end up at Paramount? Hopefully not, although he seems to be attached to the American Serie A TV rights.
I predict that out of all the soccer content CbS has or will get outside of NWSL maybe the champions league final might get airtime on the Big CBS! Everything will be just for streaming. .just thinking
