Yes, as soon as I can. But I am willing to wait because I already work from home anyway, have no comorbidities, and am young.
Yes, particularly with #1. Preventing hospitalization and deaths, which all 3 vaccines do, is critical.

My first shot went well, just a sore arm for a few days. My second shot came with chills, muscle ache, head ache, and nausea for about 12 hours the day after I got it. Nothing too crazy or unmanageable.

My wife also got hers. No issues at all with either shots.

My mother in law had a little bit of chills and fever but good after both.

Both my parents have their first!

Better times are on the way.

The news on variants this week has been quite good. Only the South African variant seems to cause a significant reduction in antibodies based on petri dish tests. Even then in the limited studies in South Africa, there were no deaths if you received the vaccine two weeks prior.

    This thread has more info.

I'm jealous of all y'all that already got your shots. I want to start living life again.

Never thought FOMO for a vaccine would be a real thing...

    RIGHT????

I meet with my hematologist toward the end of the month and I'm hopeful that OSU has some method for getting blood cancer peeps on the list. But I'll probably most likely have to wait until late April or May like most the rest of you schmucks. :D :D :D

As production ramps up and availability grows, it should hopefully get way easier to just sign up. Signing my parents up for shots was harder than chasing down a bottle of Blanton's or Pappy has been.

Got my first dose of Moderna late last week. My arm was super sore for about four days, and I felt pretty bad overall on Saturday (nothing specific, just a general meh feeling). I work in higher ed, and WV has been prioritizing people in education, so that's how I got vaccinated.

Both my parents got their second doses last week, and neither had any kind of negative effects.

Problem is, and my main complaint is, that for now it changes nothing.

Until they start tatooing "Covid 19 vaccinated" on your forehead, nothing changes. You still have to mask up everywhere, social distance everywhere, really not a thing changes. Its rather frustrating: I'm not dangerous to others or myself but not one thing changed as far as living life.

Mike DeWine still isn't going to let me go to soccer games.

I will be getting mine as soon as I can get scheduled, as will my wife. We're able to schedule starting tomorrow. Both of my daughters got theirs in January/February. I don't know anyone in my family who doesn't plan to get it when available. My wife is the youngest and all of her older siblings have gotten it. My older brother and his wife got their second dose two weeks ago. My aunt in Germany, who was reluctant at first, is getting her second dose on Monday.

Yes on both counts. The vaccine will not prevent you from getting it but will most likely save you a trip to the hospital. And just because you're younger, you're not exempt from the risk. A 30-year old co-worker just came back to work full-time and is not 100% after getting the virus in early January. My nephew at 39 had two trips to the hospital. Only you can evaluate what an acceptable risk is for you.

First shot of Moderna vaccine came with minor soreness at the injection site and malaise that day vague enough that it was more likely anxiety/psychological than real. Appointment for my second dose is Tuesday. The hard part was finding an available appointment.

While there is nothing wrong with DGA's statement, those who emphasize only personal liberty without weighing that liberty against a societies best interests are myopic at best.

The appropriate limits of each could be debated on the political board if your so inclined, as to not derail this thread ;)

I quoted it for emphasis because it is my opinion that an astonishingly large proportion of society has abdicated any and all risk assessment and delegated it to someone else without much thought, and most importantly, wish to at least soft-coerce everyone into their same decision.

If you wish to continue, go ahead. I'm sure I'll find it.

I was kind of hoping they would make some sort of exception for proof of vaccination.

I mean, you could cordon off one side for no-shots types and make them maintain social distancing. And fill the other side for folks who can prove they have been vaccinated. Or make it a "group" on your season tickets. If you are a member of the "vaccinated" group, you can go to all the events. Or that group has events without distancing. IDK, just spitballing. We have certainly segregated groups of fans before. Just treat the one group (vacc or no vacc) like they are West Ham fans and keep them segregated.

I was watching a USWNT game and I think they said they required proof of vaccination to attend. Though it was certainly still resteicted on the # of attendees.

    Probably a pipe dream.

If they create vaccination cards, they'd be creating a market for fake vaccination cards.

Vaccine requirements aren’t scientific. The vaccine is not designed or tested or given to kids under 18. No reason to when all researchers know who the primary target audience is. So a kid that is 17 and 10 months can’t get a vaccine and is in no real danger is let in a venue but an 18 year old who doesn’t get a vaccine can’t enter?
Truth is the 18 year old is in no real danger either. if you haven’t figured out that this disease primarily effects the 80 and up crowd you aren’t paying attention. Seen any data on average age of Covid death? It’s hard to find. Yes younger people have died but it’s much more rare.
My point is if you feel unsafe then don’t attend. If you’re cool with the circumstance of attending a public event great.

Had the first shot - Moderna - a couple of weeks ago. My arm was sore for a couple of days, no other ill effects.

Second shot coming in a few days.

Just scheduled for my first dose on Saturday. I was very happy to see the notification on MyChart. My wife hasn't received hers. That means either they went alphabetically (A versus my wife using her maiden name that starts with V), or my doctor was ready and submitted the order for me while her doctor doesn't give a sh!t.

My wife and I got our first shot of Moderna in Oxford,Ohio last week. My daughter got her shot there and asked them about her parents getting the shot. I had already entered my wife and my information into the computer system. They told us to come on over. Its just a 35 minute trip from Middletown. We go back in three weeks for our second shot!

Tried to sign up this am. Mostly no availability. Kroger had a few--but you have to sign up for both shots at the same time, and there's no availability for the second shot. :-( Waiting to hear from Ohio Health.
