It all depends on an individual’s preference. Rossi had much stronger ties to the US, but went with Italy because it is a bigger soccer country, and was his dads dream. Dest had much stronger Dutch ties, and it’s a bigger soccer country, but he chose the US out of loyalty and comfort with the program.

What will strike me as odd if Musah does pick England is the fact that he took a call up from the US, and would be committing at a time when PT was easily available with the US, but extremely unlikely Anh time soon with England.

If national ties and loyalty weighed that heavily for me, I would not have felt comfortable wearing the other country’s shirt if things were still up in the air. For example, Pierie very clearly prefers the Dutch, but is open to the US. I’m happy to have him as long as he is a good, dedicated teammate, but I doubt he would feel comfortable wearing the US shirt unless he’s about ready to close the door on a career with the Dutch.

I've yet to be convinced he is a lock for the USA MNT given the talent that is currently bubbling up.

musah does have to seem a huge boom/bust component. his breakthrough definitely helped by a very unique club situation and early physical maturity.

Tbc. If he chooses England, I won’t be salty like some of our Dutch friends on this board were about Dest. I get the pull England has. But they are in a golden generation and I really don’t see a path for him in the next few years, and playing outside of England hurts too.

I agree with others, I don’t think he’s a lock for the USMNT first XI, but damnit I want him. He can be really good.

Ah well. On to efra, Munoz, balogun

We'll surely never know exactly what was going on in his head at any time.

If he always preferred England, and he used the U.S. to jump the line a bit, pick your point on the good luck/good riddance continuum I suppose.

If he always preferred the U.S., this is all noise.

If it's somewhere in between, and it's actually a difficult decision for hi, nothing about the "sales pitch" the U.S. can make has substantially changed since he joined the program. Presumably that's more or less the case with England too.

There are very different road maps over the next decade for him with either program.

    Woah. Great graphic.

And guys like Bellingham and Curtis Jones aren’t even listed. Also, lol at any country on the planet having jadon freaking sancho as their third choice. If he doesn’t start, he’s at minimum the first attacker off their bench.

UEFA has a competition for '98s and younger that starts later this month. England opens with Switzerland on the 25th.

Would love to see a depth chart similar to above for this age range. Would guess he wouldn’t even make that team on merit.

crazy, Jadon is 3rd in his position.

I know us US fans are excited about our “depth”, but England’s is ridiculously deep.

Yeah... it is pretty impressive. Will be interested to see if it translates into success at the Euros and in the next WC.

It’s Sancho’s fault really because he’s not done enough in an England shirt to get selected. He tends to play on the right for us though. He’s behind Rashford, Sterling and now Grealish. Southgate seems to prefer Foden and Mount to him on the right also. We’re well overloaded in those positions. In the 21s we’ve got Hudson Odoi, Dwight McNeill, Eze and Greenwood. There’s Harvey Elliot starting to come through now as well.

Right back is silly too with TAA, Trippier, James, AWB, Walker and Lamptey all looking good. Striker too with Kane, DCL, Ings, Abraham, Watkins and Bamford having good seasons.

Centre midfield, goalkeeper and centre back are a concern. Musah is a centre midfielder really so he plays in a weak spot for us and would get in the 21s in that slot. He’d be a good partner for someone like Skipp.

What the heck did England do to inspire this glut of talent?

Always hear about Germany really starting the "reset" with their integration with national association and clubs around the klinsy time.

Then Belgium did something similar I guess, resulting in their golden generation.

Then France, who are absolutely still loaded. Not sure their process, but something clicked.

And now England. Did they do something special or innovative or did they just finally get relatively "lucky". Seems they should be favorites next year, along with France and Brazil?

They've invested over 800 million pounds to overhaul their youth system. Belgium, Germany, and France had also made massive investments, though I believe the French and Belgium efforts were government sponsored.

Musah trying to make the England Squad would be years away. They are absolutely stacked w/ talent and Musah's form has dipped quite a bit.

    Musah warming up.

Valencia score a PK in the 86th and again in the 91st to make a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead.

But they use their fifth sub on not-Musah.
