...and Reyna is off. Aside from McKennie, watching yanks lately is not fun. It’s been that way for a couple months. Why must every weekend morning start with disappointment?
would love for you to counter the woes with actual facts rather than snark. Please. By all means let us know why we are wrong that most of our “top” YAs have in fact been fun to watch of late.
For those who didn’t watch, Reyna had a good performance. Put in a good shift for Dortmund. The fanboys set the marker at unbelievable and everything below that is a disappointment. Almost had a goal. Provided good support and had a solid ten minutes of being directly involved in a few chances on goal.
I’m just not sure where the overreaction is? Gio and most yanks have not played well lately. My comment on starting mornings with disappointment was somewhat tongue and cheek, though also Somewhat factual. There’s always one poster who just likes to come on and patronize....
he was the lowest rated outfield player for Dortmund by half a point dude. Just 37 touches in nearly 70 min. 4 dispossessions. The almost goal almost made up for the crappy performance.
agree to disagree. Off the ball work was fine, on the ball work was lacking. My expectations are not too high, after all, he is just 18. I don’t think that’s a performance that will lock him into the starting 11. And so be it. He has a long career ahead of him. But “had a good performance” is not accurate imo.
He was very sloppy with the ball, but he was also involved in some of their best moments. His body language wasn’t good and his confidence is a bit low, but it’s not as if he is hurting the team. He could’ve had a goal if the ref wasn’t so whistle happy. a mixed bag, for sure, but there’s no room for nuance on this board.
He is an 18 y/o kid playing in a foreign country. He is in Dortmund's long term plans, the team is winning now, and Gio will continue to get some minutes. We should be fine with his situation. He didn't look terrible today either, seems like he might have lost a bit of confidence relative to earlier in the year but that will happen with a young player. Sancho looked like a shell of his former self in the Fall and now everybody loves him again.
Normal for someone his age to have a psychological letdown in a long season. As he matures, concentration won't be an issue.
