Camara moved wide right instead, Weah and David together up top.Clearly Lille prefer trying to make it 2-0 to trying to prevent 1-1.
Corner kick - Weah heads it probably wide but sweet diving save wide of the net by the Dijon keeper. Nice technique by Weah even though it missed the frame.
They've finally gone defensive, and Weah is off. Good game, but with the chances he had, I'm sure he feels like he could have scored.
On one hand, he was the most dangerous attacker. On the other, he should have scored at least one and maybe two goals.
I'd have to agree. He often struggles to string together a series of perfect touches. He'll have one, or two, or more sublime ones but so often crock it up in some way or the other -- his body shape is wrong or is at odds with the touch he's trying to take, he takes an inopportune angle or is too fast or too slow. I'm realizing now he may be the Zardes of the European play. Better in almost all areas of course but also just a smidge away from being a much better player. I think he can and am very hopeful he will reach that higher level. He's tenacious and clever and very skilled. Health, as with so many great talents, seems like the big decider. But you could also argue that that higher level would be at his dad's level and when are the sons of great players ever as good as the fathers? Almost never.
Weah subbed on 61st minute. Still 0-0 past the 80th minute. Looks to be wide right in a 4-4-2, playing high.
Fun fact of the day: Lille is ending this one with 70% possession but not a single shot on goal. In fact, the only shot on goal in the game was by Brest. I like watching Brest. PS: Yazici wouldn't hit an open hangar door.
Can't believe I'm watching a game with a guy named Chardonnet and a team named Brest, and no one is scoring.
Full time, scoreless, and that one doesn't feel good in terms of the title race. 14 shots, none on goal.
*Presumably* on the bench for today. Kickoff in a few. https://www.mykhel.com/football/ligue-1-lorient-vs-lille-lineup-2094893/
Starting against Ajax (return leg). Really good turn by Weah frees him for a nice run, but his pass to strike partner is deflected and the keeper parries it out. Follow up shot from midfield is saved off the line by a defender.
If Lille score the first goal - and obviously the earlier the better - the tension on the Ajax side will increase enormously.
Weah has been brilliant thus far. Could’ve scored on that curling effort, but put it inches wide from 20 yards out.
This is such a hard call of which game to watch between this, Salz, and Hoff. Lille have been good going forward but so soft in the back. Timo making good runs, taking good angles in attack and defending. He's such a smart player. As a forward in a 4-4-2 he plays like a mini-Mbappe
