Hopefully Kaymer gets it. I'd rather have a guy get it from playing as opposed to the intricacies of how the ranking is calculated.

If he cleans up at the Els Club then it's in the bag.

Have fun watching that one. I'm trying to score some Ryder Cup tickets for 2012. Never too early!

It's official. Lee Westwood is #1.

Wasn't he the proud to be an American guy?

Too bad for Tiger, with all of the scandals hurt him as a player. However, if you look the other way, Westwood made his way to the spot with his consistent results.

I'm sure there's some good reason for golf (a predominantly individual sport where only four events are worthy of international messageboard discussion) to have a publicized ranking system, but I can't for the life of me figure out what it might be. Tennis uses it because it's a 1 v 1 sport and seeding is necessary for single elim tournaments, but in golf you're playing the course.

Maybe it's for seeding those skins games and matchplay dealies?

He looked pretty good yesterday in the final round of the President's Cup.

Good because he couldn't put on Saturday.

No, he could not. Looked like he was reading them badly on Saturday, while doing everything else pretty well. What was interesting on Sunday was that particular piece seemed to fall into place.

The other thing that happened in the move from Saturday to Sunday was that Baddeley, who seemed to have nerves of steel when he was carrying Day on Saturday, was clearly feeling the pressure on Sunday.

Anyway, I don't normally enjoy watching golf but found myself getting wrapped up in this tournament.

That's because match play rules! The PGA needs more of it.

My hope is that one day we can have a match play tourney with guys over 33 vs. the young guns. How great would a foursome of Fowler/McIlroy against Jimenez/Mickelson be?
