All in-season trades between MLS clubs must take place within these transfer windows. has this always been the case? Thx, Jay!
D.C. United pursuing Nigel Robertha? 23-year old Netherlands/Curacaoan player, played in the Dutch Eredivisie and currently playing in Bulgaria with Levski Sofia Adding to this report: multiple sources tell me #DCU is now in serious talks with Nigel Robertha, 23-year-old forward for Bulgarian First League side Levski Sofia and the Curaçao national team. Fee, one source says, would be $1-2m. Club also has a pair of others on their radar. https://t.co/w8Wq8iaV2U— Pablo Iglesias Maurer (@MLSist) February 20, 2021
From his Wiki page, he was born and raised in the Netherlands and was in the Feyenoord Academy. Not in the Eredivisie, but the Eerstdivisie (2nd Division) after being dropped by Feyenoord. Good production his first year in Bulgaria, not so good this year. All I can think of at the moment is Ray Hudson and "hairy chested Bulgarians." Statistically, he doesn't look like a 1.2M transfer acquisition. Erik Sorga with a better pedigree, maybe.
When Jaime Moreno was with Middlesbrough in the Premier League I think he played most of his matches with their second team.
What caught everyone's eyes was Moreno's performance in a Bolivian National Team match, not what he did or didn't do in England. Maybe this guy has shown flashes with Curacao, IDK.
I’ll take a tandem of The Estonian Messi and the Curaçaoan Moreno in MLS ever day of the week. Thx, Jay!
In MLS we've seen loads of transfers for X million that are mostly incentive laden. I wouldn't be surprised if this $1.2 number was contingent on games played, goals scored, etc.
I will give the benefit of the doubt to someone the coach wants as opposed to someone the FO wants that rides the pine at a high salary because he lacks bite.
If Roberta comes here he will not be one of Ray Hudson's "hairy-chested Bulgarians." He may in fact be hairy-chested, but he was born and raised in the Netherlands.
D.C. United in talks with American defender Brendan Hines-Ike #dcu #mls https://t.co/K54FhevRDA— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) February 22, 2021 Plays in Belgium, maybe Losada is familiar with him?
Isn't a 23-yo player too old to be a Young DP? Maybe those two things are unrelated and we're interested in that guy AND a younger, better, more expensive dude.
Morris tore his ACL so that leaves just Paul as an MLS loanee. Different type of players though I’m not sure if this makes the chances of a permanent transfer more or less likely. If Swansea get promoted, probably more likely.
Just looked up Hines-Ike and, based on the images on the interwebs, he could be Birnbaum's cousin. Really strange.
This report out of Hounduras says all that's standing between Najar signing a contract with DC United are passing medical tests. Hard to believe that Najar is only 27 (will turn 28 next month).
I would love to see Andy return and do a Moreno circa 2004. Probably won't happen, but it would be great if it did.
When was the last time he played in a game? Early 2019? I don’t think he played at all last season, and he got hurt in 2019.
