Nagatomo scored a silly own goal without any pressure on him.

While Sakai was created the chance from which Marseille scored.

Nagatomo was subbed out 10 minutes after half-time, as he had another lackadaisical performance.

Marseille didn't manage to score the winner despite their heavy pressure and many chances and having over 70% of ball possession.

2 points lost in their hunt for European places.

 

Sad to see everything going so bad for Nagatomo.

 

It's nice for him to play alongside another japanese anyway. If I'm not wrong, this season there are 7 european clubs where japanese footballers play together: Marseille, Eibar, Frankfurt, Portimonense, Hannover, PEC Zwolle and Sint-Truiden.

 

In 6 different European countries: Germany, Italy, France, Portugal, Netherlands, and Belgium.

Both Nagatomo and Sakai seem to be out Sampaoli's plans next season, as he is looking to make a major overhaul of the team.

They are both set to leave this summer.

Sakai most probably leaving Marseille and returning to J league soon. Not sure about Nagatomo but given his age, most probably he will not factor in Sampaoli's plans for next season.

Yuto Nagatomo is officially released by Olympique de Marseille after the end of his contract.

He is now a free agent with talks linking him to a return to Japan to join Vissel Kobe.

 

Genoa are in negotiations to sign Nagatomo.
