oh i agree, ferreira was the only one id consider close to a false 9- but that seems to be the preferred description around here. i gave up on fighting that the day after lletget was run out as a fw. i generally sound like an idiot trying to split the difference, calling it a false 9/"hub". to tie this to the question i just posed to @Suyuntuy, i think its an incorrect label for a role we are creating due to strikers who cant score.

Fun fact about todays game. The coaches are at the top of the BL1 for “Longest Time at Current Team”. Streich is #1 with about 9.5 years at Freiburg. Kohfeldt is #2 with about 3.5 years. If nothing else it is a statement about how impatient most teams are with coaches.
Nasty head collision for josh. And he’s off in the 62 min lol again, didn’t do anything of note as a forward other than drew fouls.
I suppose Josh is lucky that no other striker than Hoppe has been scoring this year. Gioacchini hasn't scored in a while and Soto is only playing with the U-23s.
I bounce around between the threads covering YAs who are regularly in the 18 of top 5 league teams (+Aaronson). This is not a “glass half empty” board. This is a “glass is on fire and will end life as we know it” board.
Weah plays wide, not striker. I think he's only scored one of his goals while playing as second striker.
No. I have seen about 2/3 of his games this year. He looks consistently good to me, whether on the wing or as CF. He makes few mistakes, his positioning is good, he moves the ball smartly, he gets no service at CF, and he is active. He hasn’t finished consistently, but he gets so few chances that doesn’t bother me. That’s the Sargent I see.
True. It's hard to be precise in your word usage when typing here while watching several games. What I mean to say is that Weah is not primarily a striker, since he plays wide as a winger or wide forward. He has not played many minutes, and in nearly all his starts he's been wide. However, one of the goals he scored he was playing centrally. To wit: Europa League goal vs. Celtic: Timo started, was playing LW Ligue 1 goal vs. Dijon: Timo came in late, played RF (for Ikone) Ligue 1 goal vs. Montpellier: Timo started, was playing RW Ligue 1 goal vs. Bordeaux: Timo was connecting Yazici & Bamba as SS Of late he seems to be playing more centrally, so he may be transitioning into a striker at this point.
Players’ forms go up and down. It is ok to be not in great forms right now. Just make sure getting in top shapes during WCQ time.
Sarge with a Kicker 5.0 rating (1 best, 6 worst) against Freiburg. Tied with a couple other Frieburg guys for worst on the pitch.
every time florian kohfeldts name comes up as a rumored replacement for a say marco rose my jaw drops again. wtaf
We haven't seen Josh, CP, Weah, TA and WMcK all play together in...I don't know how long if ever. At that time, should it ever happen, we will see what he is capable of because now he is not being used as the player he is, or was. His team is horrid. When was the last time he was fed on the run. If he gets. one chance to poach a goal, it is a lot. It must be incredibly hard to keep a good mentality in his situation .
Not a great game from Sargent against Freiburg. Lost possession way too often. With Füllkrug and Selke ready to play full games again I think it’s possible he won’t start against Hoffenheim. Plenty of games coming up with the cancelled Bielefeld game and the cup game against Regensburg so he‘ll get another chance soon.
That says a lot about your understanding of the game. I’m hoping we can keep him but it will be difficult.
