    Thank you very much friend.

Yesterday I had found the goals scored by Di Stéfano in his time in Argentina both in Huracán (https://viejocasale.medium.com/alfredo-en-globo-1c07650cd854) and in River Plate (
http://estadisticasderiverplate.blogspot.com/2014/07/todos-los-goles-de-alfredo-di-stefano.html) and statistically matches the data that comes in your link. In addition, your link confirms the hat-tricks that I had found of Di Stéfano on other websites except in a match from his stage in Millonarios.

As I said, the only difference I see is that on wikipedia they gave Di Stéfano a hat-trick in the Colombian Cup, which according to your list is only a double, I have searched for more information on the internet and indeed it seems that it was a double, so I update the list.

    HAT TRICKS IN OFFICIAL GAMES

    - Spanish League: 22
    - Spanish Cup: 1
    - European Cup: 5
    - Spanish NT: 1
    - Argentina NT: 1
    - Colombian League: 6
    - Argentina League: 1
    - Campeonato Sudamericano de Campeones: 1
    TOTAL: 38

    HAT TRICKS IN FRIENDLY GAMES

    - River Plate: 2
    - Millonarios: 4
    - Real Madrid: 9
    TOTAL: 15

TOTAL Hat Tricks between official and friendly matches: 53

Breaking down these 53 games a bit more we have to:

    - 3 Goals: 42 games
    - 4 Goals: 9 games
    - 5 Goals: 1 games
    - 6 Goals: 1 game

TOP SCORERS IN A LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP

Worldwide: Archie Stark with 67 goals. This American, Scottish by birth, holds the record for goals scored in the first division in a single season, no less than 67 goals in the 1924/25 season defending the colors of his team, the Bethlehem Steel of the American Soccer League of the United States.

In Europe: Ferenc Deak with 66 goals scored for Szentlorinci in the 1945/46 season is the best record in a European league (the Hungarian in this case) in history. His other great team was Ferecvaros. We are talking about a great scorer who was on several occasions top scorer in the Hungarian league ahead of, among others, the legendary Ferenc Puskas.

In South America: Héctor Scotta with 60 goals. In 1975, defending the San Lorenzo de Almagro shirt, he scored a 60 goals in a single season in the first division. To clarify that this record comes from the sum of the two championships that were played that year (National + Metropolitan) and that between the two San Lorenzo played no less than 61 games, although I do not know if Scotta played them all.

PLAYERS TOP SCORES AT LEAST THREE DIFFERENT LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

ISIDRO LÁNGARA (3 in Spain, 1 in Argentina and 2 in Mexico)

He was the first player in history to achieve such a feat. First he triumphed in the Spanish league at the hand of Oviedo where he was the top scorer on three occasions, later in Argentina he was the top scorer defending the colors of San Lorenzo de Almagro and finally in the Mexican league he was the top scorer on two occasions with the Real Club España where he shared a dressing room with the legendary Argentine José Manuel Moreno.

ALFREDO DI STÉFANO (1 in Argentina, 2 in Colombia and 5 in Spain)

The Spanish-Argentine made the reverse path to Lángara, first triumphing in America and later doing it in Europe. Di Stéfano was the top scorer in the Argentine league with River Plate when he took over from the Moreno, Pedernera and company as the star of the team, later he was twice the top scorer in the Colombian league with the mythical Millonarios de Bogotá in the early 50s and finally he won the Pichichi Trophy of the Spanish league on five occasions defending the colors of Real Madrid.

ROMARIO DE SOUZA FARIA (3 in the Netherlands, 1 in Spain and 3 in Brazil)

The Brazilian began his career as the top scorer in the Dutch PSV where he won this distinction up to three times, later he was also the top scorer in the Spanish league defending the colors of FC Barcelona to finally be 3 times the top Brazilian scorer with Vasco of Gama. Note that in the Carioca regional tournament in Brazil Romario became the top scorer seven times.

RUUD VAN NISTELROOY (2 in the Netherlands, 1 in England and 1 in Spain)

This Dutchman was the top scorer in his country's league on two occasions with PSV, once in the English league with Manchester United and once again with Real Madrid in the Spanish league, being the first player to be top scorer in three leagues European.

LUIS SUÁREZ (1 in the Netherlands, 1 in England and 1 in Spain)

The Uruguayan was the top scorer in Holland with Ajax Amsterdam, later what in England with Liverpool and finally in the Spanish League with FC Barcelona. The Uruguayan is the only one of the five who has never achieved it in his country of origin.

It is very curious that for there to be only 5 players (I do not know if I have forgotten someone else) all of them have been top scorers in Spain, and that two of them have done it with Real Madrid, another two with PSV and another two with FC Barcelona.

From what I can gather I don't think he was a special player.

His goalscoring exploits were advantaged by the regionalized German football league structure in his time. The top level consisted of 16 to 23 different leagues that all existed parallel - not one first division like everywhere else in Europe but 16-23 first divisions! Of course with a league structure like that there was no real competitiveness possible and thus high scoring games were frequent.

Here's my short biography of Helmchen from my website:

Erwin HELMCHEN (1907-1981) Germany, Inside Right Top Scorer Championship 1936

The number of goals Erwin Helmchen scored in league competitions even outdid that of Gerd Müller. Usually deployed as an inside right, Helmchen was not a very fast player, neither did he showcase great skill on the ball. What made Helmchen an outstanding force was the power of his shot. He would unleash his shots in any situation that might look promising and often the sheer force of his shots assured a goal. During his career 596 goals in top level (yet still regional) leagues are documented.

However not a single international appearance for Germany. There has been quite some speculation why that was so. He was almost 10 years a "candidate" for the national team, was a member of the roster several times but there always was something getting in-between Helmchen and his debut for Germany. Be it an injury, bad form, leaving a bad impression when scouted by Otto Nerz/Sepp Herberger or having to attend a wedding.

This is his known goalscoring record in league football. The number of games per season is unknown, but his goals total for each season is available:

Thanks mate, he's really an unknown name to me.

It's really intriguing how a goalscorer of his caliber (even with low competition in his league) was not considered equal to his german contemporary IF/CF.
Or at least merit 1 cap or lineup in a B-team.

    45 Hat- Tricks ( 29 League, 13 Cup, 2 Champions Cup and 1 in Cup Winner´s Cup)
    National Team 2 HT
    Toronto Metros 1 HT
    Carrer Total 48 Hat-Tricks ( Domestic 43, Int. Club 3, and NT 2)

    Note:
In the previous data, the 77 goals in his first team are not computed since there is no detailed information anywhere so far that shows the 42 games he played to know how many hat-tricks he scored in that team, obviously by the average of goals more than some insurance that he marked, but I repeat that I do not know for sure how many he marked, so so far they give 48 insurance.
    • In his last team, New Jersey Americans there is also a discrepancy in that he supposedly scored 2 or 5 goals, in the event that there are 5, there would only be room for one more hat-trick because 2 goals were in the regular season of the ASL; I know that it is confusing due to the score that the league managed to give 2 points per goal and 1 for assistance, which would give 5 points and from there it could be the error, but the question is that in this link:
    http://www.nasljerseys.com/ASL/Rosters/Americans_Rosters.htm
Only regular season data are computed, but compare the data that they handle there from Pelé or Gerd Müller and you will realize that this is the case, then it could be a maximum of 1 more hat-trick in case someone had that detailed data.
    • By the way, the goals in the Taça de Honra were not taken into account
The goals I got from these 3 sources mainly comparing them and reaching a verdict on the discrepancies, obviously counting official goals

Thank you very much Gregoriak !
Which gives us a total of 613 career goals for Helmchen in an official way, no doubt some missing data on top of that.
Anyway, we are far from the 980+ goals scored for this player by the RSSSF..

Besides, it would be interesting to estimate his number of assists, it will be necessary to know his exact position on the ground.

I don't know if you have access to other stats from him, or other old players like Bican, Friedenreich or Stark (or even top goalscorer before the 1910s?).

    Thanks !

    Best,

because with Trachta10 and BayernMessi1970, we are at 417 official goals for him in his entire career.

    Thanks.

Di Stéfano is sure to have at least 509 to 521 goals, never 417.

As a scorer in national leagues, he has officially recognized between 373-377 goals according to the source and 29 more among the national teams of Argentina and Spain. This would add up to a total of between 412 and 416 goals, which are almost the 417 that you tell me.

To all this must be added all the goals of the National Cups and in all international club competitions such as the European Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Latin Cup, Aldao Cup or South American Club Championship, so it clearly exceeds 417 official.

The only thing that occurs to me is that those 417 goals do not include those of his time in Colombia, which is 102 according to the website where I looked at Di Stéfano's goals summary.

I think Pele's hat-trick record of 82 in domestic could include unofficial match and not sure if he will remain hold the record of cut those unofficial number off.

Notes: About Romario there are several discrepancies regarding the amount of official goals he scored due to certain tournaments he played, for example Mr. Chip awarded him 743 goals, the graph 762, even if we remove the 12 goals in official national team competitions minors do not reach the figure, and if we remove the 6 goals in tournaments Taça Cidade Maravilhosa and Copa dos Campeões M Mundial do not add up the figures.
I personally consider 754 goals that include 2 games canceled in 2005, since I do not consider the 2 previous tournaments as official, so without counting the minor teams I would give 1 goal less than Mr. Chip; but for our "fortune" he did not score any hat-tricks in them so that would be the list of hat-tricks and the official goals list would be another matter ...
You can review the Hat-tricks here or a list of them appears on wikipedia in spanish.
