I think both of you are right. The problem is that "organization" is fundamentally flawed. Frank spent a ton of money and from what is publicly known it appeared those were the players he wanted. They over paid for Chilly but he has had some moments this year and is a big improvement over Alonso or Emerson under Frank. Thiago was a free. Not sure about Mendy but he is worlds better than Kepa last year. I think Ziyech is probably going to be okay, and he has an eye for a pass. Havertz. I have seen nothing to make me think he is going to be useful at all. I don't know the player and so I don't know if it was always thus or if it is some lingering Covid thing. Werner looks to be one a trick pony, getting on the end of OTT balls or balls played into a channel. That is fine if you aren't facing a bunker. Intricate touches and aerial presence do not appear to be his thing and yet most of the offense appears to be hit hopeful crosses. I still think Frank is caught between two minds. I think he really wanted to play two up top when he bought Werner. He got on a run of unbeatens playing a 4-3-3 set up and now it is almost like he forgot why he bought these particular players in the first place. I see his options as 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2. I do not see any reason to persist with the 3 in the midfield. They haven't won the middle of the pitch since this bad run started, even against Morcambe the midfield was hardly convincing. Going to a 4-4-2 would shorten some of the distance you are asking those guys to cover.
Nice wording in the Havertz analysis: "But the manager simply cannot afford to do that with a player who's both immensely talented and cost an extortionate amount of money."
LOL... good catch... I just do not think dudes speed of thought is up to PL level. The only hope for him, is the game will slow down for him as he gets reps. I thought Frank gave him a typical 10 role against Leicester and when he did get a chance he made a bad pass or tarried on the ball as if he had all day.
Like Weston in the box yesterday, unfortunately. But yes, it is pretty clear that Havertz was not premiership ready when he arrived. One hopes that is something that can be improved upon with time. In terms of Werner, he is on a cold streak like you read about, but he is also not getting any kind of proper service for the type of player that he is. Given the system that Frank is deploying, I'm not sure how he can remedy that. I don't know that the system totally suits Pulisic either, but it's better for the flank attackers than it is for the lone striker.
I haven't seen the whole game so far. But CP is mostly just making back passes. Chelsea didnt pay the big bucks for that. I never thought I'd say this, but he needs to start playing with more determination like Mount.
CP is really out of form right now...Surprised Frank keep on starting him...CHO must be looking horrible in training.
I think he's looked a bit better in the second half. Although Chelsea have been on their heels. Havertz is the attacker who looks completely lost.
Pulisic has been bad. Chelsea has been bad. And they both are intimately intertwined with each other. They’ve got to figure it out.
Well, that is it...I think we can expect CP to spend some time on the bench and I have no problem with that...CP simply hasn't looked nothing like what he looked last year.
Cho has earned a start for sure. The good news is there are lots of games and Pulisic will also look good running at tired defenders off the bench.
Let’s all agree, Pulisic should be benched. should have had a goal in the first half, maybe 2. He’s a bystander out there lately, and he’s not causing any threats. let CHO start for awhile, and hopefully CP can come off the bench and make an impact, then regain some form to become a starter again
