United also has a lot of young players though, and Chelsea has a fair number of experienced or even prime-age players. I wouldn't be surprised if the average ages of the squad are similar. I think you are overstating "experience". Unless you mean those players have been playing as a unit longer.

Pretty sure I did the same thing to Wes a couple years ago when he was in the stands hurt for the friendly vs Paraguay in Raleigh. No ragrets.

    Nooooooooooooooo

But that darn picture is the first thing that popped into my head when I saw Pulisic’s ‘relaxed’ pose

It is, that's exactly what I' m talking about. "Average age of squad" is irrelevant on these terms... Martial is only 25, but has been figuring it out at United in multiple positions for 5 seasons now, Rashford is only 23, but literally grew up at United and has played huge minutes there for years now, also in multiple positions. Those guys know their roles, & United have a clear identity. That kind of experience, having gone through it and having a clearer vision in terms of playstyle, matters.

    Alternative facts, eh? :p

Easy now. Don't you think that's a little too much?

Too much effort expended on them, I Mean. Personally, I just call them "Bayern". The word itself is insult enough :D

I'm not so sure about Abraham. He was lethal in the Championship and a goal every 150 minutes last season is pretty good, though it is noticeable how his output fell off after the first 15 games. Otherwise, I'd even be open to the suggestion that you're being to kind. At Leicester, Kante was the finest DM since Makelele; at Chelsea he was a so-so RCM before Lampard and now he's just a slightly more mobile training cone for the opposition to pass and move around. If Lampard can't get him back to something approaching what he used to be, then he has no business coaching at this level. Doubly so when you consider that central midfield defence on transitions has been a glaring weakness of his teams at his Derby and now Chelsea.

My cable provider dropped the BL some time ago, so I'm finding it hard to keep up with non-Bayern (cough & spit) and non-Dortmund :)thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:) games, so I was looking forward to seeing just how good Werner and Havertz are, as well as whether Ziyech could do it at this level every weekend and not just on big CL nights. So far, all three veer between confused and frustrated, all the time. Not every signing works out, but to have three players of their pedigree performing so poorly at the same time is a five-alarm fire.

IMO Robinson being sent off on the stroke of half-time in the Fulham game may finally have done for Lampard. The contrast between the problems in each half was just too obvious: outhought as well as outfought by a bottom-feeder in the first half, they were listless as well as impotent against 10 men in the second. That's way more problematic than the kind of bad games United have been turning in under Solskjaer: at least there, individuals turn in decent personal performances. This is looming-crisis territory.

Chelsea to me seemed to fall into the old trap of buying big names without actually having a plan on how to use them... or worse not knowing what those players do best.

I listened to a podcast that said they felt Max Allegri would probably be the best choice for them because of the pragmatic approach

Not unlike United over the last two seasons.

The difference is that, Pogba apart, Solskjaer's mismatched collection of individuals have rarely given off an "I'm pissed off and no longer give a rat's ass" vibe. That's because Solskjaer is at least able to motivate his players, or he signs and/or selects better characters. It's probably both IMO

    And away we go ...

"Despite insisting that he was immune to conjecture Lampard did seem to take issue with the work of one particular journalist.

In response to getting asked whether technical advisor and fellow Chelsea great Petr Cech could be a valuable resource for players and staff thanks to his experience of good and bad times at Stamford Bridge, Lampard said: "I think [the player's] confidence would be shot if they were to read some of the pieces you write at the minute because I read some of them and some of the confirmation basis that you reflect on games with.

"It's almost like a social media pundit to try to get a reaction in a negative way. I read the pieces when we were doing well as well and they didn't go both ways. For a journalist to be objective to be a big start."

Speaking of Frank I did find it funny that there was no change with Tomori leaving on loan and that he was still with the club training... while it was reported Milan had already submitted his contract to the league and video emerged of Tomori arriving in Italy

I think Frank just wasn't ready to deal with the expectations of a bigger budget either.

Acceptable definition of crook: Bayern. Noted.
Kante is great, he doesnt want to play for lumpy or chelsea. I think that part is mental. Panties Abraham can only score when given the opportunity to be a better athlete, remove that and he is a terrible football player. Stick him at Burnley or whatever and he will start scoring more. Havertz moved far too early. Hipster ballack is an apt description. Timo needs his mommy. Zitech will eventually be moved to the middle of the pitch. Mount hates CP. I mean they really hate each other. He makes the same runs. He shoots all day long at nothing. His passing has improved and he has the 'motor' english people love which just means he runs 2x as much because he's always out of position.

new coach needed. Lumby lost the plot when superior talent was no longer working.

You should have asked for a kiss. Imagine that stampede? I'll never forgive Ballack for going to FC Bowel Movement after what they did to the Leverkusen coach. As if Uli Willie Wurstien isn't at P1 snorting Kola like a hippo every weekend back in the day, by that I mean before he was in tax evasion jail for a year.

Just curious, how old are you? Hopefully not over 14. btw, Mount has been one of the best players. Had one of the best defensive performances of the year against leicester.

When CP is Chelsea's best player they beat ManCity and go top 4, when Maisey Mount is chelsea's best player they lose to mancity, wolves, arsenal, leicester and get incredibly lucky not to lose to Aston and Fulham. What does that tell you? Yes, btw 13. hope not lost.

Only reason Lumpy is still coach is Allegri wants more control. A couple more loses and he'll get it.

    Lumpy? Maisey? Panties Abraham?

I look forward to your thesis, scholar.

Generally I am in favor of CP sitting during FA Cup Matches against inferior competition but I want him in the lineup tomorrow. Perhaps he will be able to get out of this ridiculous scoring/assist drought. Unfortunately, I assume it will be Werner, CHO and Havertz. It would be nice for CP to play in a game where Chelsea can dominate. They need him to return to post-covid form so badly.

Guess Frank is going for the "fake news, we're actually winning" approach.

Sometimes when teams play poorly it is not because of a conspiracy, Sam. They definitely do not look to be on the same page, and that is likely the fault of the coaching staff, but to say that they don't like each other is a bit much. Pulisic has vacationed with Mount and Tammy, and he's stated that he's even tight with Timo and Kai. The issue is that they don't seem to be able to get their games in sync on the pitch, which probably has nothing to do with their personal relationships.

I think that as others have stated, Frank is becoming too inflexible and running a system that does not suit his players at present. He needs to figure it out quickly or Chelsea will continue to struggle. When everyone on the pitch is struggling, it means that the system is not working and needs to be changed - maybe by a new manager if Frank can't get it done.

I think he needs to change to a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 and sit a couple of players to see if they can get a rhythm. Right now they look like Newcastle on offense - they can't break anyone down or finish their chances.

Frank with his Mensa-level intellect should be able of more than his "run the wings, cross to the middle" crap.

    He was really poor.

Don’t look at the Chelsea boards. Not a great place to find any optimism about CP.
