severe storms and flooding in Liverpool today. roads flooded, trains cancelled, people being told to evacuate homes in some areas. might have an effect on the game?
true. I just wonder if the game will get called off, or be played in a swamp with increased risk of muscle injuries.
Just checked, things seem to be clearing up, Currently 6C Intervals of clouds and sunshine with winds gradually subsiding.
I'm expecting the game to go forward...and I'm still holding out for a 3-0 win! Good News: Burnley have only scored nine (9!) goals in their first 17 PL games this season, so they are not much of a threat going forward. Bad News: Burnley have only allowed 22 goals (one more than LFC!) so far in the PL...so they may be difficult to score on... However...ManCity have played them twice, and beat them 3-0 (in the Carabou Cup) and 5-0 (at the Emptihad)... Come on you REDS!
Joel Matip and Kostas Tsimikas have been named in Liverpool's matchday squad for this evening's fixture with Burnley at Anfield. Matip returns after recovering from an adductor issue sustained against West Bromwich Albion on December 27 that ruled him out of the champions’ last four matches. Tsimikas, meanwhile, will be involved again for the first time since picking up a knee injury in the Champions League clash with FC Midtjylland in Denmark on December 9.
Here is the team: Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Fabinho, Matip, Robertson, Thiago, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Shaqiri, Mane, Origi. Subs: Kelleher, Milner, Firmino, Salah, Jones, Minamino, Tsimikas, Phillips, N. Williams.
Mo and Bobby benched. can't say I'm surprised. Subs: Kelleher, Milner, Firmino, Salah, Jones, Minamino, Tsimikas, Phillips, N. Williams.
4-2-3-1? Alisson TAA ..... Matip ..... Fabinho ..... Robertson Thiago ..... Wijnaldum Ox-C ..... Shaqiri ..... Mane Origi
This front 3 also started the 5-2 win over Everton at Anfield last season if I'm not mistaking. I think Klopp realizes he needs to shake things up, and he also realizes he needs an option from the bench. Last time Salah was "benched" he scored a brace.
makes sense all round. unless we fizzle out after 15 mins again, at which point we'll all start bitching about the decisions......
With 9 games in the next 30 days Klopp might as well give some fresher players a run out. Games are coming thick and fast now.
7 games in 17 days will have had something to do with Jurgen's team selection, but here's hoping Divock and Ox could have a big impact as they come in to the team. Worried about Hendo although I don't think Jurgen will think twice about leaving him out in the Cup match. He knows how important he will be for the Spurs match next week.
