Ah, the requests help it make sense... Otherwise, it looked very weird to lose two good players for nothing but draft picks. I think Sky Blue is gonna have trouble next year.
If Pugh recovers from whatever has been ailing her for the past couple of years, this may be a terrible trade by Sky Blue. Woldmoe has been good for a bad Sky Blue team; it will be interesting to see how she does with a good team. But Chicago has a tough midfield to break into.
if the accepted boss of the draft is giving up first round picks.... just asking again. is this year's draft any good? the top players came out last year, no?
It does. Playing during the 2020-21 season does not use up a year of NCAA eligibility, so players can stay and play NCAA soccer another year if they want.
Tziarra King to OL Reign and Darian Jenkins to Kansas City: #NWSL News: Tziarra King is heading to @OLReign, along with a second-round 2022 draft pick. Sadly, Britt Eckerstrom has announced her retirement: Britt Eckerstrom has announced her retirement from professional soccer.Thank you for leaving your mark on our club and this league. This IS sad... and a bit confusing. A few years ago there was a glut of keepers, but not so much any more (The Reign have ZERO at the moment!). She's very good -- there was some fan talk of her being potentially in the US pool -- and she's not that old. I'd like to see her play a few more years, but in any case, i wish her the best.
Perhaps it’s family or financial issues. Didn’t she just got injured recently? Maybe that could be it.
I'm pretty much sure that's what pushed Jaelene Daniels to call it quits. Lack of WNT opportunities caused a couple early retirements back in the WUSA. It's really astonishing how much of a closed system the WNT is. By design. The CBA basically guarantees camps and playing time for the select group. Which is pretty much the opposite of how every other men's and women's national team on the planet is run.
Britt is definitely a good 'keeper, maybe WNT quality, but there still are a ton of good 'keepers in the league, (Reign aside*,) to the point that Britt isn't even near a lock to start at her own club. That's probably another huge factor. *the Reign don't have zero 'keepers, they just got someone from the CA Storm. And I wonder how much they might be banking on getting a certain 'keeper from their parent org... But almost every team in the league has at least one, often two, NT-level 'keepers on their squads.
She has been good for the Thorns, both in goal and as a teammate. My impression from what I have seen is that she is moving on to something positive for her. Also, she had fallen to #3 on the Thorns GK list. That takes nothing away from her and she had an all time great game against the Courage in the recent NWSL tournament. But, I think she decided it was time to move on.
I guess what @shlj is suggesting is that Sarah Bouhaddi could soon transfer from OL-mothership to OL-Reign.
Yeah, it actually might be a loan, same with Maroszan. But we have to see how the pandemic will play out. They had all set up for the Utah Royals and it fell through due to Covid-19.
I don't know about this - can you elaborate? Yup... we all wonder that.... I assume they have SOME plan having recently traded a future NT starter, lost a great vet, waived a rook and not replaced any of them.
Good luck to Katelin Talbert, our amazingly talented, hard-working, and passionate goalkeeper, as she joins @OLReign for preseason. With OL Reign, she’ll be training alongside some of the best players in the world, including fellow Northern California native, @mPinoe. pic.twitter.com/tZDN1uXqJb— California Storm (@CalStormSoccer) January 21, 2021 Also, there's this too with another player: OL Reign has signed goalkeeper Cosette Morché (@call_me_Cozyy) for the 2021 season. Interesting. Thanks! The team has not announced this and reading the story it sounds like she may be a NRI. Hope to hear more. OOPS! I had mistakenly coded her as a defender. Thanks. Still a key starter in goal is needed and i think we are all wondering if she will come with Lyon connections...
