Personally, I've been a bit bored with the past few episodes. It's almost like Marcos is all talk. But there is definitely a good setup for the Rocinante /Razorback v. Marcos. Have no idea what's going to happen with Amos.
They've been going HARD with the Naomi scenes. I'd want less of those and more of Holden or Avasarala.
Liked the last two episodes but things definitely slowed down compared to the craziness of events in the first half of the season. So it's pretty clear that the majority of the Marcos plot will be left for season six?
Sure looks like. I'd hope the last two contain a lot of things happening and preparing us for a final season.
Not just that, but the rest of the series. There would be an episode or two with set up, and then some crazy. That said, I don't think it is just the plot. I have been disappointed with actors who play Marcos and "Chuckles."
Things have really, really slowed down! Still enjoy the Amos bits. But Naomi has been stuck on that ship for a long-ass time now.
Seriously. And not just Naomi. Apart from Amos, and a little of Avasarla, everything is slow. I was hoping Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Amon and co would make it to Luna, but no.
The final episode better be one hell of a Knockout. I feel this season is better than the 4th but its pacing is almost atrocious. Naomi's storyline has been interesting at points but quite infuriatingly dull at others.
It looks like they're setting up for a reunion, now that Amos and Peaches are heading toward the moon and everybody else is converging on Naomi, but it's taking a long damned time. Is there really only one episode left for the season?
Sadly just 10 episodes. I like this season but the pacing has been awful the second half of the season.
Name a show where the lead character is the worst character on the show I'll go first Sabrina Spellman— Hated Dad. (@N9_L5) January 28, 2020 The Expanse? Holden is technically still the lead but does anyone watch the show for that character?
Holden is great but he's def overshadowed by more brilliant characters. I kinda figure it's like with LOST. Jack was the lead and a swell guy but boring compared to the funny Hugo, captivating Sawyer, tortured Sayid and so on. Kate was the same way but even worse. Far more boring.
I like him better than Drummer. Although she'll be redeemed if she ever gets around to spacing the shiny lipstick wearing Marco sycophant.
Just adding the Cas Anvar ( Alex ) was fired from the show for sexual impropriety. So a new Alex for last season.
Damn, that finale should have been over an hour long to wrap up some loose ends. Next season can't be the end, I wanna bet they'll continue the story somehow with a streaming film(s) or miniseries to cover the later books.
Whoa! What the ********? Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler So that's what his character being killed off was all about?
No! Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler Why didn't they re-cast him? I assume his character is still around in he books?
I ask a bunch of questions so I enjoy the sub. Mind you, there are tons of hardcore fans on there. https://www.reddit.com/r/TheExpanse/ Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler I think re-casting would come off rather poorly. It's a shame they did him as they did. I'd have liked them just dropping him next season saying he tried to get back with his wife/son but the actor left them zero valid options.
There is a certain irony that whilst Anvar was very vocal and visible in the save The Expanse campaign once upon a time, he is now perhaps responsible for ruining the show to a certain extent? Whilst they boast many more great characters, the core appeal was still revolving a lot about the original Rocinante quartet.
Totally agreed. It's like losing George Harrison, sure you still have Paul and John but you're def weakened some.
BTW, it's also through this news that I learned Anvar turns 55 this year! I thought he was in his forties.
We watched the final episode of the season last night. My wife had read about Cas Anwar being fired several weeks ago, so that particular plot twist wasn't a surprise. The final episode suffered from all the time spent with Naomi alone on the rigged ship. They might have devoted more time to helping us understand Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler the rationale for Drummer's decision, the backstory behind the sudden appearance of the Martian warships, and whatever happened to that one ship as it tried to pass through the ring. ...or even given us a bit more fun with Holden's introduction to his new crew member. I don't mind the cliff hanger so much, it's just that cliff hangers should generate more "wow!" and less "huh?" In defense of Holden's character: the weird decency of the Rocinante crew (of which Holden and Naomi are the heart) makes the major plot events more interesting. They're the home base we get to return to after we've seen whole colonies turned into blue mulch and the cradle of humanity destroyed by a smirking egomaniac. I'm much happier with the authors telling us about the geo-political (or cosmo-political?) reasoning behind Marco Inaros' savagery from a relatively detached and intellectual place (from which I can admire the way the authors have managed to found all that on something that resonates with similar events from human history). I'm pretty sure I would never have stuck with a narrative that came closer to putting us inside his skin, the injustices against the Belters notwithstanding. To me, at least, it's just more fun to live through all of that horror from a place created by characters who treat each other the way I'd like to be treated as opposed to having to float some empathy for the perpetrators while living the stories from their POV.
