Yea I saw what happened, and didn't even realize how well Cerny had been doing in the netherlands. He was one of the best wingers in the whole league. We have some options as mentioned, but Cerny is more of a direct winger vs someone like Jankto and Barak who are more wide playmakers.
Pavel Bucha was mentioned in TIFO's new youtube video about potential transfers to Man city. I didn't realize Bucha was statistically such a great prospect.
Eh, that's a stretch, he's always had potential but I don't think he is progressing enough to be linked to mega club at all. I would say mid-table Germany or Italy is more realistic next step. The only Czech league youngsters that will make a big step like that soon are Hlozek (who is back in training thankfully) and Sima (unfortunately not ours, but an incredible talent).
Update from the Czech abroad road less traveled, Matous Trmal just recorded his 2nd strait clean sheet at Vitoria Guimaraes, this time against Benfica. I did he he also made the Portuguese Team of the Week a week or two ago. Seems to be doing well there. We just love our goal keepers don't we?
Good to see Trmal taking advantage of this opportunity. It was definitely an odd move on his part, but perhaps he can now challenge for that starting spot at the U21 level. As for our senior goalkeepers, Vaclik finally returned to the Sevilla bench after injury. He was already struggling for playing time before being sidelined, so hopefully he can bounce back this term. I think Pavlenka will most likely be starting in goal for our March WC qualifiers based on his more favourable workload by that point.
Vaclav Jemelka has quietly had a strong season in Belgium. He's technically on loan, but have to imagine Leuven would take the buy option at 1 Million EUR.
That’d be a solid move for Jemelka. I still consider him a reserve player for now, but realistically he might have moved ahead of Brabec on our centre back depth chart. I noticed Simic has been regularly playing again for Hajduk Split. Definitely a long shot he breaks into the current fold, but probably could feature on the reserve list.
With Hovorka out and Suchy not really playing there is room for a mediocre center back to get a chance. That said my guess is Zima and Kalas will be the starters next summer if everyone stays healthy.
I’m projecting Kalas and Celustka to be locks and probable starters with Kudela also in good position to make the team. This is just based off of past Silhavy lineups / call ups. I do think Zima will likely go and that would be my four as of now. I think if Suchy was still in contention, he’d be there instead of Kudela, but I feel as though his international career is probably over. I kind of hope that the young Ladislav Krejci transitions into a central defender. He has the potential to play in a top league in my opinion despite his aggressive and unlikeable nature, which I find obscure many evaluations of him because he’s otherwise a very talented player.
Slavia may have struggled to find the net, but Schick picked up a brace in what looks like a wild 4-3 match against Swiss side Young Boys. Bayer were down 3 goals at half and picked up crucial away goals to keep advancement hopes alive.
Barak scored against Juventus yesterday. He now has six goals this season and I’m sure Verona would like to employ him on a permanent basis. Our midfield for the coming years will be such a physical, playmaking, and goalscoring force with Soucek, Barak, and Kral.
After watching the matches with Leicester, I would probably say that at 20-years -old David Zima is actually also close to being a potential big club signing as well. I think he can definitely play in a top league very soon. Looking at how quickly his value went up the first half of this season, it appears the people at transfermarkt agree: Considering that centerback has been our weakest position for so long this is a big one.
The progression Zima has made in the last calendar year is one of the more impressive development stories I can remember of recent times. Another testament to how effective and profitable the methods of Trpisosvky are. He’s well on his way to playing in a top league, but I do think he needs time to fill out his frame (still a bit too narrow, especially for the Premier League). Otherwise, he has all the attributes to be a dominant modern-day defender. I still maintain that with a star central defender, our current best XI on paper is nearing the level of a second tier UEFA nation (Denmark or Switzerland for instance) in my opinion.
It's a day of assists: Kaderabek with 2, as he bounces right back from injury. Darida with 1 as well In Belgium, Jemelka also picked one up. Schick grabbed as easy a goal as he will ever score as well as a saved shot landed right at his feet with an open net.
Olympique de Marseille are apparently very interested in Adam Karabec. No idea what Sparta would demand, but hard to see them selling him.
@KristianRDyer reporting that the Union, D.C. United and Nashville have interest in former Czech Republic youth international Jan Vodhanel.
Yeah, he was linked with MLS the summer of 2019, but his club didn't want to sell and the world became a bit otherwise focused since then.... He recently refused an extension according to a Czech article 2 weeks ago so certainly isn't staying with Bohemians. He's solid, not a designated level player and nowhere near national team level, but effective left sided wing player. I think he's been injured much of this season though so haven't seen much this year.
Thanks for the excellent analysis, are you from Brooklyn? I'm up in Rockland County (NY), used to referee a bit in Brooklyn in my younger days...lol
I've been in Brooklyn about 10 years and my wife is from here, but I am not native. I'm a bit of a world traveler that wound up here after post-graduate and sort of settled down .
Darida has been handed a 3 match ban for a reckless challenge in Hertha's match against Dortmund. Considering he immediately went to check on the player he tackled and put up no protest, I imagine he would acknowledge it's not an unfair punishment.
According to The Sun there are 4 Premier League teams interested in (recently snubbed by the national team) striker Jan Kuchta: Southampton, Brighton, Newcastle and, of course, West Ham.
The sun isn't really a good source, but honestly it wouldn't surprise me if some bigger clubs go after czech players. Provod and Kuchta are the two I am watching this summer.
Barak scored his seventh goal of the season while Schick came off the bench to score his ninth league goal. Meanwhile, Pekhart scored two more goals in Poland today to bring his season total to twenty one. He can score thirty goals for all I care. Still not national team material in my opinion. Kalas played yesterday and I also believe Kral is fit to return, so appears both skipped this past international break as a precaution.
