Simply keeping this thread up to date on his stats is not ok? if you think stats are harsh, you shouldn’t look at the Chelsea boards. They are not mr. Pulisic’s biggest fans at the mo
I thought for sure they would give him until the end of the season, I thought he deserved it based on their performances last season. but depending on the validity of various sources they already have someone on standby to come in at least as interim. You don’t make it as Putin’s associate if you aren’t ruthless I guess.
I too would have sworn that they'd at least give him this COVID season to integrate these signings. I still think they might. At the same time, this is approaching untenable unless things improve, and if they really feel like they have a shot at top 4 maybe they will act. I don't really think top 4 is realistic even with a big manager coming in. Furthermore I don't think a manager the caliber of Tuchel or Allegri are coming into this disjointed, unconfident mess without a transfer window to impose themselves and their philosophy. And if you're not getting a top manager, you're not getting top 4 anyways. So why not let him finish the season? Then bring in the big name with a whole off season to prep for the bounce back in to the top 4 next year. I suppose it will depend on how much worse it gets results-wise. Losing to a good Leicester team is not going to be the straw that broke the camel's back on this one... I don't think.
Actually, they may just be ahead of the real announcement. Somehow Football London gave Mount a 6 and Pulisic a 5: https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/fixtures-results/chelsea-player-ratings-vs-leicester-19660486 Mason Mount Didn't see anywhere near enough of the ball in the first half and was very well marshalled by Wilfred Ndidi. Took his frustration out on his teammates by calling some of them out on the pitch. One of the better players in a tough, tough evening. 6 Christian Pulisic Dribbled down too many blind alleys and got nothing out of Castagne. Lucky not to be hooked instead of Hudson-Odoi. Plenty of effort but little in quality. 5 PS: Homerism is strong in this one.
I can't believe he still has a job, it's already gone on far to long. Everyone is dealing with COVID and this is a particularly soft year in the EPL, I think any decent coach the caliber of Tuchel/Allegri, etc would have had this team in the top four and still has a chance to. Werner, Havertz, Zyeich, Silva and Mendy are all quality additions to what was a decent side to begin with. If it was anyone but Lampard they would have been out on their ass a month ago. This is terrible management, Moyes level sh!t show. Don't get me wrong I am loving every minute of laughing at Chelsea, CP aside.
Agreed. If they wait another month or so it might be too late to save champions league qualification. They’re running out of time to act.
I think Mount has that innate make something out of nothing to his game (he's super young), enjoys his long shot, and seemingly is more than the sum of his parts). He's obviously more of a midfielder than Dempsey was, but they kind of both like the tweener role of dropping back deep but getting forward. Much of my comparison was rooted in personality and kind of not having a position.
Lol and you just got fooled by a parody account. It absolutely needs to be said. Check your sources before you accidentally commit treason or something.
Aside from being pretty NSFW, the GQ article is actually really well written and entertaining. It also highlights the "physicality" of the Premier League in a way that we predicted: I remember when Hazard asked Mourinho to get him custom double-sided shin pads (although I'm pretty sure it didn't happen). Maybe Christan needs to invest in some of those.
This seems very unlikely. Frank's Chelsea can beat teams in the bottom parts of the table, but this season has not beaten a team in the top 6 of the EPL. I imagine that's a trend that's mostly stayed true through last year as well. Which probably doesn't bode well for a manager expected to win trophies and to get his expensive squad playing well. The NBC commentators have it pegged rightly, IMO. Frank's Chelsea look like they are playing worse as a team than their individual talent would indicate. And today was an extremely clear indication of that. Leicester, certainly no sloucches, could've easily put 4-5 past Mendy were it not for a couple good saves and fortunate misses.
And Moyes was given until after gameday 34 or something like that. I don't think Frank is some great manager, and he wasn't right for the job. I think I said as much at the time. I'm just not sure this is that simple, all context considered. That said, we agree it likely will not go on that much longer. If they cannot get results before late Feb, more than ever I think he very well could be gone. We'll have to see.
