A week is a long time in this rapid, relentless season; a month feels like an eternity. It was one month ago on Monday that Liverpool tore Crystal Palace apart, a 7-0 away win off the back of a win over Spurs that had some pundits asking exactly who could stop them defending their title. Jürgen Klopp’s team have scored one league goal since, and that came early on against West Brom. The barren run now stands at 348 minutes (plus stoppage time) after Manchester United held the champions at bay with relative ease. The deployment of Takumi Minamino was effective at Selhurst Park, with the Japanese winger opening the scoring and completing the 90 minutes, allowing Klopp to rotate Sadio Mané and Mohamed Salah. It is strange that since then, Minamino has not played a minute while Liverpool’s weary first-choice front three have started every league game. Minamino’s time at Liverpool has been hit-and-miss, but he surely deserves a chance to make an impact against Burnley on Thursday.
We are currently having trouble breaking down defenses with lots of men behind the ball. We also have no fit centerbacks and don’t have anyone in the team to head away crosses and set-pieces. So of course Burnley are up next.
We desperately need him to stay fit and for Jota to return to the line up too. Just look at our fixture list for the next 30 days or so. Nine games starting with Burnley and up to the Everton game Feb 20th. Burnley (H) Man U (A) Spurs (A) West Ham (A) Brighton(H) Man City(H) Leicester (A) RB Leipzig(A) Everton(H)
Relative as easy as playing at home and hiding behind 2 ranks of 5 and double team any forward with the ball. Or by parking 2 busses on their own pitch. They showed their respect er fear of actually playing us. They were pleased, overjoyed, ecstatic at the end to get a point. Fist pumping and hugs! BUT. I’m not talking down that we should have scored...!!!
How we've not bought a CB with all the shit housery at the back is beyond me. The Tsimisikas(if he was bought to spell Robbo but doesn't even get a game) money could have at least been invested wisely in a Centre back considering we know how injury prone Joe and Joel are. Extremely mad at the Club for short sighted planning wrecking the Season which promised so much.
Tsimikas hasn't gotten many games because he had a knock, had CoVid and now has another injury. We needed cover for Robbo so that wasn't wasted money. He's back in training now and hopefully will play in this busy stretch
My boss scheduled a case review at three o'clock tomorrow. Grumble. I'll have to DVR it. Sometimes, adulting sucks.
I often lament technology in our lives but if it wasn't for being able to watch us on my phone whenever I want, I would have missed half of our games this season.
