That post isn't saying he's not good enough. It's a post about recent production.

And I'm sure he won't be going anywhere for awhile.

Reading the last couple of thread pages is like going back in time and replacing the name Mount with CHO.

WRT CP's production... it should be concerning but I really think it is more about the Team/Frank than it is about him. He has been involved with goals/chances... he served a perfect ball on a plate for Werner and it was choked. How many assists would CP have if Werner was hitting the target? Also... how many balls are being played into CP like that one? But in the end the game is about production so CP has to carry some of the blame.... just still think he is their best winger. The whole team needs to get it together or they won't even make Europa League.

    Pulisic=Sargent=painful drought.

On the bright side, just think of the glory when he starts regressing to mean with a burst of production. It will happen if he stays healthy.

If Pulisic does get benched, I am confident he will come into the last 20-30 minutes of matches and change the game and earn results for them, and earn his starting spot back eventually

Hell, if guys as expensive as Havertz and Werner can get benched for not producing, there's no reason to think CP won't. It's life at a club like Chelsea, especially when they are struggling to produce. The manager is trying to figure out the lineup that will produce, and when something isn't working, he'll change it up, throw something else at the wall to see if that works. Then it's up to the player to up his game and force himself back into the manager's plans. That's why we all get excited when our YA's go to teams like this, because it is demanded of them to be the best, and it brings the best out of them, which we all hope is translated to our nats. So we ( mostly I'm speaking to myself here) just have to tolerate the occasional bench stint for guys like CP, Adams, Dest given the talent they have around them.

That kid is awkward. He may be a great player, but he is not terribly marketable from a PR standpoint unless you can use stills of him playing for your campaign. I love the kid's heart, drive, competitive fury, but man, he is not the guy you would pay massive money to drive clicks to your non-footballing site. I didn't even click on that link!

People like Adams and Weston were just born with charisma and a magnetic smile. CP was born with an ungodly footballing ability, but PT Barnum he ain't. Not a problem, for every Stuart Holden there is a Clint Dempsey.

Well, if it had to be done, it had to be done. Maybe it will help him score.

My take on the Fulham game: this was the poorest CP has played in a long time. People are pointing to the 2nd half, but I don't think he really woke up until stoppage time where he had a couple of nice moves/passes. And it isn't even that CP was necessarily bad, he was just completely uninvolved in the game. I attribute CP's poor game to 3 things:

    1. Chilwell - Earlier in the thread someone mentioned that Chilwell gets the ball on the sideline and then will pause while CP makes a quick darting run towards the sideline, then ignore the run, pause again then make a square pass, a back pass, or a truly speculative cross. This must have happened 15 times and not once did he try to get the ball on CP's foot. These aren't goal scoring opportunities, or excellent runs, but who's foot would you rather have on the ball to create a chance...Chilwell or CP with a yard of space?

    2. Lampard's system isn't working for CP. There appears to be a cross-first mentality and it tends to exclude CP from the play. If he has really instructed his wingers to be less direct with their dribbling in an effort to whip crosses in, then he's wasting too much of his talent on an old-school philosophy. Chelsea has success on corners because they bring up their big boys from defense, but that doesn't work during the run of play. I would love to see Ziyech play in the middle with CP and CHO on the wings...Kante and Mount behind Ziyech.

    3. CP himself. At some point, the number 10 for a big club like Chelsea needs to take control of the game. If Chilwell is not giving you the ball, either make a different run or have a word with Chilwell so he starts occasionally rewarding it. CP also needs to get a little smarter about when to attack the goal on crosses. Occasionally it works (he almost scored doing it against Fulham), but most of the time he's on the same line as the center forward, a few yards to the left, and the defender guarding CP has 6 inches on him. I just don't see how that situation is ever going to result in a goal. In games like Fulham, CP needs to adjust and figure out how to get involved...maybe it's different runs when the ball's on the left, maybe it's drifting more centrally and not as high when the ball's on the right...I'm not sure what the answer is, but it's CP's job to figure it out and he didn't in this game.

I don't know how much blame to assign to each of the 3 things above...it's impossible without knowing Lampard's instructions to the team and Chilwell. But, I won't be surprised if this game triggers a Ziyech, CHO pairing on the wings and it will be up to CP to make a difference as a sub to earn his spot back. If he does start, he'll need to have a banger of a game.

This is a big game for both clubs. A challenge for LC title aspirations, and an opportunity for CFC to show that it is still one of the big 6. I think at this point, LC is a much better footballing team than CFC and by current form LC should really win this one 2-0. I've seen LC have some stinkers though so you never know. Rogers is going to have his boys fired up for sure. Lampard is having a hard time, IMHO getting the best out of his guys right now, so it will certainly be a challenge for CFC to get any kind of result in this game.

I see CP starting this one on the bench, Havertz and Werner getting back into the XI, with CHO and Ziiyech on the flanks. Mount will of course be in his ever present spot as well.

Agree with most of the stuff you pointed out...He looked like he just got out of bed and still half asleep with no energy.

As for Childwell ignoring his sideline runz...it's clear Childwell doesn't like to pass it to him there and I myself feel CP should try to make himself available more thru the middle so he can turn to combine or create something on his own there.

As for Lampard tactic...as you said, it's too reliant on passing it on the sideline for crosses...they need to concentrate on attacking thru the middle with faster pace and combination of passes.....they should look to get CP involve more thru the middle..zayech also.

zeyech and CHO will most likely start for sure today...I'm starting to think maybe a break on the bench would be good for CP..He played with no energy and urgency last match.

Lampard doesn't trust CHO yet for 90 minutes. Plus, they have an FA Cup match this weekend where CHO will certainly start. Pulisic probably starts again today and needs to play well.

Your analysis is good. I'd just add that to play the wingbacks equally on each side of the field is crazy, at least if CP is playing. The left side back hast been interfering with CP's access to the ball since he arrived at the club. CP is THE guy who should be the focus of the team (apart from whoever is playing central striker on the day). Right now, most balls do not reach CP until he is at a dead stop far on the flank with 2 defenders immediately in front of him. He's got to be played into the attacking third at speed, receiving the ball on his front foot or via a lead pass in order to make the best use of his talent. It was the same at Dortmund, too. The deeper players have to start thinking about attacking options sooner, and with more creativity. Or, the coach just needs to start telling them what the kcuf to do. I favor the latter.

If Leicester win they go top of the table, if you're top of the pile halfway through the season then I think you can rightly say you have 'title aspirations'.

Especially with how weird this season has been... no crowds, lots of injuries, fluctuations in form. The last man standing might just be the one that gets it together fairly consistently as opposed to the squad that looks electric when in good form.
