    That's great news.
There were those who didn't think she had a position in the pro leagues.
Kudos to Deyna. May she have a long and successful career.

She’s very talented and just 21. And seems to be adjusting to pro game well, potential MVP for Atlético this season. I think she’ll have plenty of opportunities to impact the club game for years to come. Is Venezuela even playing intl soccer these days? Would be fun to see her on that stage, too.

FSU just got a commitment from a SoCal girl Maggie Taitano who is listed as a MF.
She is also ranked #5 in the 23 class per TDS.
Hoping the TDS ranking is correct with this one. They had this to say about her after a recent event.
M Maggie Taitano, San Diego Surf U17 - Taitano is such a joy to watch. She moves so well without the ball that it feels like she is always open for her teammates. She is simple with her touches, but it facilitates so much for the success of her team. She can play in tight spaces and will be an immediate difference-maker at a top five program at the next level. This Surf team is loaded with talent, but winger Emma Pidding also deserves a special mention for her play in Phoenix.

I remember her name, she helped U-15 squad win the Conacaf 2 years ago. That was a deep USWNT squad.

Not sure praise is deserved when it's been a dead period since March 2020 and 2023s can't be contacted or offered until June 15 this year. Winning or character?

Not a huge fan of TDS rankings, but I'm hopeful.
I am a huge fan of Mark K's assessments.

Coach K's record speaks for itself. Do not mind the posters here who think they are head coaches.

Yes I think the talk of Deyna not having a position in the pro leagues was incorrect. When you have ball-skills and passing skills as good as Deyna does, there is a place for you.

So now that Malia is gone, who steps in?
Does Linn Bogren? Or does Mark convert a midfielder with pace
to that position? How about Zipay? I don't think this would happen this
late in her career, but Kmac would make a good CB IMO.
Of course he could move either Gabby or KP over and slide a MFer back.

It will be interesting to see. What say you?

Really not sure what he’ll do for the spring. Just too bad in the end! I think FSU had a solid and better chance at a national title this year with Berkely back there. Covid season a mess and it’ll be a taller order because.

I know that people have been wondering how the spring season will go especially as Pac 12 teams have started already.

It looks like FSU will just have scrimmages this spring but will still participate in the NCAA Tournament in April. It looks like the Tournament will have 48 teams.

I must stress that this is the plan right now. As with everything in the Age of Covid things are fluid.

Oh man, that’s disappointing. Hard to imagine they’ll be totally prepared for a tournament without much live game play. Especially with a reworked back line. Too bad, they looked really really good in the fall.

That fits with my master schedule. Florida lists a home game against FSU on March 6, but identifies it as an exhibition. So far, no teams have listed FSU as a counting opponent.

One benefit to only having exhibitions or scrimmages in the spring is that the Noles are now virtually guaranteed to have a #1 seed in the NCAAs based on winning the ACC and going undefeated in the fall.

I doubt that the coaches decided to only have scrimmages for this reason but it is a definite benefit.

It depends on whom they are scrimmaging, no?

I had this thought, too. But then, I had a second thought, which is that the Committee may wonder why they are playing no counting Spring games. As in, maybe they have key players from the Fall who will not be available in the Spring, so they are not playing counting Spring games to hide this. Availability of players is one of the factors the Committee can consider -- although I do not know of any past case where I thought they considered that factor. So, maybe not virtually guaranteed. Rather, maybe calculated risk.

If they indeed play no counting Spring games and the Committee does not give them a #1 seed, I would not criticize the Committee.

I agree with you that the Committee could consider whether FSU would be without players that they had available in the Fall (other than Malia).

However, in this case if FSU didn't have players missing it would be easy to demonstrate to the Committee that they were whole by playing their full roster in the scrimmages. Also, FSU was so dominant in the Fall in arguably the best conference in the nation that it would be hard to find four teams with a better resume. Therefore, I don't think the Committee would deny them the #1 seed unless it is clear that FSU would be missing multiple players.

For me it would depend on who they gave the #1 seeds to in this scenario. Those four teams would have to have mighty impressive resumes.

Just noticed that Casey (Short) Krueger also got the call-up.
Good luck to both of them.

3 Freshmen just showed up on our roster, Hjorth, Curtis and Horton. A BC transfer Gianna Mitchell also showed up.
She is listed as a defender.
    Anyone have any intel?

No intel but Mitchell looks like a rough and tumble CB from her highlights video.
