I’ve been watching Schalke consistently since we were hoping McKennie would make his debut. This is the best they’ve been to watch the whole time.

As a striker, he needs to go somewhere that he’ll likely be first choice, imo. If he keeps it up, perhaps Dortmund would look at him as a Haaland replacement, but if not, I’m happy with anywhere that has the talent and system to give him plenty of scoring opportunities. He is very young, so it’s perfectly fine if he’s not at a big club at this age.

    Okay, you can't teach this.
That's a natural clinical finish. He's a bit oafish but he can do this at the highest level and is a good athlete.

that would be stupid. Bayern will give him no time to get better. It would be as bad as going to Barca or Real.

Schalke has had nothing going in the second half... all Frankfurt.

Where’s the “oafish” part? He looks pretty coordinated to me.

Schalke just cannot keep possession, and minus McKennie they’re now equally bad at winning it back.

His touch isn't as clean as Pulisic's, Reyna's, or Sargent's. I don't care about all that in a forward at the highest level; he can make all the basic passes and has the perfect capabilities to spear head an attack.

id like to add one thing..

His contract was winding down. This is exactly that I thought Hannover should have done with Soto even though he was not willing to up his contract without a guarantee of minutes. THey coulldnt score without him so they should have rolled the dice with the younger player who would have left whether he got minutes or not. Schalke at least understood this.

I feel like I'm watching Tacoma Defiance vs T2. Lots of effort, curious coaching and lacking quality.

Hoppe starting is exciting for us but lest we forget, Schalke is an awful team, maybe a little bit improved with a few nice additions but still they just broke a massive winless streak.

Whoa! Just saw Hoppe’s goal. Outstanding. A little bit of luck hitting the 5-hole of the keeper. Regardless, that was a great run, great pass, and I love the strength to take a nice shoulder charge but still get enough pace on the ball to get it past the keeper. Well done, Hoppe. Well done. Keep it up young fella..... Berhalter and others are taking notice.

No no, he def has an oafish touch on occasion. Remember, you see the highlights, the occasional oafish touch is always omitted.

I thought it was in regards to the ways in which he moves around. Hence why I said “coordinated”, not that he had a super soft touch.

Still long way to go. Hoppe is ranked #19 right now with 4 goals. To breaking into top 10, he needs to get 8-10 goals range.
Right now, #1 is The Goalski —21, #2 is Silva (the guy scored the first goal for Frankfurt)—12 and Haaland 12.

Those stats be damned. All that matters is Hoppe-Challenge stats now.

    Somebody write 12 goals....

He makes great runs. His first touch in rare occasion is zardesk. But that will be ironed out at ajax ;)

BIG POINT BTW, he has priced himself out from Schalke being able to offer a competitive contact.

The aggression, awareness and acceleration are the kind of things that tell you that if he stays healthy the rest of the way he'll add more goals simply because that was an effort goal and they've shown the past two weeks that they can deliver him chances where if he runs into the ball, he'll get a shot. People are forgetting that the guy basically dropped that ball right perfectly in front of him to run onto, a lovely chipped pass. Two weeks, 4 lovely chances that I've seen w/o watching anything other than the goals.

If he stays healthy, he's gonna add goals the rest of the way. I'd put his total if he starts the rest of the way at 6-12 but w/potential for more. Only way he stays on 4 is if he gets hurt. I think some of the moves people are suggesting are just silly, but I think if he keeps this up the next several months he won't have trouble getting a move to a mid-table side w/a chance at Champions League/Europa League squad attention from big 5 teams and Germany. He's a teenager and has four goals in what, 4 starts and w/a team that's scored like 13 goals all year.

So you're telling me that a striker can score goals on a team that doesn't generate much offense? I was told that was impossible.
