Why exactly did Ramos play in a meaningless Super Cup match on painkillers ? He is literally our most important player. Why not play the perfectly capable Militao or Nacho ? Does Zidane know he has more than 11 players in the squad ?

A lot of mind boggling decisions. Ramos hasn't looked well for a few weeks now.

How much of this are the players demanding to play though?

This however raises other questions; first being Zidane should get control over his veterans.

    Typical mismanagement.

Player Militao more, he’d have been ready.

In fact, he’d have been ready either way because anytime he’s played, he’s arguably been our best defender on the pitch.

Also, there's a limit to how far painkillers can get you. Ramos is out there throwing his life away to prove a point when it comes to his new contract. At some point, that engine will be blown out and painkillers won't do the trick any more.

Multiple doctors have pushed for a move to ban painkillers or at least disclose their use in football and every time this came up for voting, all the big clubs refused to sign off on it.

Ramos out there killing his liver, pretty dam and stupid, warrior mentality or not.

Let's be honest, Zidane is more likely to advocate for a RM golden girls edition than say it's time to move on from guys like Marcelo

You act like Florentino isn't even worse. That's the main issue. If Florentino wouldn't be so bent of not spending money and keeping deadweight maybe our addict manager wouldn't have the drugs so readily available.

They are both to blame. Idk how we can say Flo us the main issue when he did spend 250 mill on 3 players Zizou wanted and 2 of those have failed miserably and the 3rd is so so. Flo also got rid of players Zizou wanted gone and rightly so.

They are both equally responsible for the mess we are in.

But not to sound like a broken record, they are the best president and coach we've ever had. I'm willing to give them a pass as long as they both learn from this mess

Because he trusts who he trusts and when he feels it's a must win situation he defaults to the core 11 regardless of form or output. If the coach generally refuses to properly utilize a third/half the squad, then it raises serious questions either about our scouting or his ability to work with players outside of his selected core. Jovic seems like a bust, Vjr is a shadow of the player he was two seasons ago, we don't seem to be able to get the best out of Rodrygo consistently, you would think we brought back a completely different player in Martin from what we've be looking at for years on various loans, Militao might as well be on vacation and I'm scratching my head a bit with what's going on presently with Fede. I refuse to believe that every single one of those players cannot contribute in a more meaningful way to our season even if it's just to manage the mileage on the veterans.

If Zidane refused to come back Florentino would have still spent €130M on Hazard and €50M on Militao.

Zidane is the one who pushed for Jovic and failed massively there but who didn't think Jovic wouldn't be a success? I know he tricked me into believing he would.

In the end you know I complain profusely about Florentino's management of the club during Zidane's era; I believe he took advantage of our success and refused to upgrade then got rid of our best ever player just because it wasn't "his guy".....

Yet I would trade Florentino for no one. Mistakes and all. Without him we would be Milan (even though he has ran us like we actually are of recent).

He's killing the club, needs to buy the players Zidane wants. Who needs a stadium renovation, renovate the squad with 500 million Euro in new players.

We know he's killing the club because he isn't playing worldbeaters like Jovic and Gareth Bale.

If only... then we would win every match eleventy to zero.

I think Zidane should be the Real Madrid overlord. President, coach, technical director, designer for the kits and warmup gear.

Like Professor X, for the X Men.

I think you should, after all you are never wrong and predict everything including Hazard being a 1 goal in two season bust.

It's easy to win CL after all so I'm sure they'll just change the name to the Real Madrid invitational in no short time under your infallible hindsight driven leadership.

Ok, i'm gonna make this quick. You've picked up some kind of "you swine don't deserve Zidane!" thing which is absolutely hilarious. You can respond with "yes but Bale!" all you want, this sort of shield and protect attitutde with Zidane (i criticise him when he does something wrong! -He does something wrong a day later - Yes, but Florentino! The weather, AND VAR!) is become one hell of a show.

Not as great as watching your absolute meltdown whenever someone isn't raising a pitch fork and placing blame solely on Zidane.

How dare anyone hold the President accountable as well! Damn them!

With that said your Bale uberdefenses were the greatest of all time.

What's wrong with spending 50M on Militao? He was playing at a very high level, and certainly showed he's capable against top clubs in the CL. The fact that he hasn't played to justify the price tag is also on the coach.

Nothing wrong with spending on any player who ends up proving their worth. The context of thst post wasn't to say it was wrong, it was to point out Florentino already decided to spend and would have done so even if Zidane never returned.

Players not playing isn't only about the manager. It's also how they practice and their attitude. That isn't to say there isn't politics and favoritism; there is. However, we don't really know what is going on in practice.

What we do know is Zidane would rather use Nacho.

We also know he would rather use Marcelo and Isco, so he has some questionable favoritism to the old guard. I don't think that speaks much about Militao, and wouldn't question anything about him. There haven't even been reports about anything of that kind, unlike with Jovic for example.

Hazard has been Zidane’s “request” for a half a decade as well. Just some bad calls and mismanagement and bad luck by both coach and president in the last couple of years.

I know you’ll remember this but this is how Zidane was as a player as well. Remember the head butt World Cup when he made sure the squad had all of the old guard, players who were considered washed up and then before the tournament started news came out that the “senior players had a meeting with the coach” in training camp and basically said leave it to us. They almost won the World Cup but this is his personality. He has unshakable faith in proven horses and people he trusts.
