That's hogwash. Was David Silva any more robust? Is TAA's physique much different? Is Jota's? Fabinho looks like he's a skipped meal away from starvation. This isn't 1974. It's apparent his muscular system is at risk every time he places it under some strain, but it doesn't have anything to do with his physique. And, like Sturridge, it does not seem that he'll ever be capable of remaining fit for long. With Keita and Thiago and Ox all having extensive injury histories, Hendo and Milner aging, and Gini (likely) leaving, our CM is in need of extensive updating.
Many small framed players play 'large' , Mane for one, Gini is another. But not all do . Keita and Taki for me do not. Both are technically gifted skilled players but both often too easily brushed off the ball . Growing up playing in England you wouldn't last in the game if you didn't play 'hard' on the ball. It's just an observation from me but Keita doesn't . He's young , never seemed to have these injury issues prior to coming but its been one after another for him, he can't stay fit for long. I'd love to be proven wrong but as time passes he seems more suited to a less physical league .
It's a standard thing for foreign players arriving in the Prem being stunned by the physicality required and the constant need (as speke says) to "go hard" multiple times per game. it's why many players underperform, they carry too many persistent knocks from game to game, even if their bodies don't let them down. many conclude it isn't worth the risk to their careers and quietly move on. AFAIK Keita had no significant injury history in Germany, so adjusting to the Prem is obviously a huge challenge for him
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Naby Keita is near a return from injury. He has not played since 19 December but can return "soon". Defender Joel Matip could be fit to face Manchester United on 17 January. "He is in a good way but if it will be United or a few days later, I don’t know," said Klopp. The German says Diogo Jota is still "a few weeks away" from returning to training following a knee injury.
give me a fukking break ... https://talksport.com/football/815432/ Michael Oliver has admitted he should have shown Jordan Pickford a red card for his challenge on Virgil van Dijk during the Merseyside derby in October.
What I was surprised about looking at it afterwards was that nothing was expected on-field in terms of a red card. None of the players were asking for that. What a stupid statement by Oliver. He has now officially encouraged players to surround the ref for every call.
And after these statements he's going to be allowed to continue officiating in the premiership? Of course...
I thought that was, specifically, what VAR was for...to get right the onfield errors made by the ref crew...
I found that strange-/ are players meant to appeal a for a decision as they do in cricket? That said, he’s still the best referee in the Premier League. Make of that what you will,
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has suggested to The Liverpool Echo that Joel Matip could be available for the match against Manchester United. Klopp has said that Matip is close to returning to full fitness, but he has made it clear that he has not decided whether or not to include him in the squad to take on United at Anfield in the Premier League this weekend.
I'm sure Matip will be given a fitness test prior to the game and will start if it's at all possible. Lets hope his body has recovered enough .
Kostas Tsimikas has been spotted back in Liverpool training as the Greek international recovers from injury.
Yep, I was really disappointed reading that . We have a seriously busy month ahead with some massively important matches .
Nonsense, Speke. He was playing in Germany for years. It's not like he is constantly running at mane. Son, Rashford speeds. We could say the same about Joe Gomez. They are just unlucky.
On a more important note .. what the fvck is going on with Henderson? I didn't see any injury post in this thread??
He looks like a lightweight , Zaq , constantly bumped , brushed , knocked off the ball and also constantly picking up knocks. It just suggests to me that Keita might not be able to handle the physical rigors of the PL. We have other smaller guys like Mane and Gini who actually are very strong on the ball despite their size and rarely in the treatment room.
