Hasn't been at his best but maybe he's one of those players that needs a bit of continuity, can't really see that happening unless we change formation
I was just going to say that, he's going to have a hard time getting back to his best if he can't get a game. Hazard has been worst but he's getting game time and i dont believe that Fede has been so bad that a start for him means our level ( lol ) drops.
I think he was just a bit unlucky that while he was injured Modric, Kroos and Casemiro had some very good games and Zidane has just stuck by them. But you can see they're starting to get run into the ground so hopefully he'll get some starts soon and cement his place in the starting 11. He was amazing pre injury and indispensable. Hard to do much though when he's getting 15-20 minutes and he's coming on either when the team is desperate for a goal or when the game is pretty much over.
Should return to the starting lineup soon. He adds energy and some much-needed unpredictability to our midfield with his movement, and the role he played in the team's rejuvenation last season cannot be understated.
He definitely needs to start some games soon. Get him in there and let him cement his spot. We need energy.
🚨| Fede Valverde will inject painkillers in order to play against Liverpool. @marca #rmalive— Madrid Zone (@theMadridZone) April 12, 2021
I have some questions: What are the risks of doing that, are there any? I guess you don't use painkillers for strains, but for brusises which should be harmless except that they press and hurt. Is that right? Do bruises also carry some risk of hidden injury or wrong movement pattern despite the painkillers? Is there any difference from playing through the pain besides the comfort?
🎙| Valverde: "Put Casemiro, Modrić and Kroos together, they’d make the perfect player: Case is strong, fast, he sees spaces opening, spots players coming to press. Luka is dynamic, the pass between the lines. Toni has the patience and ability to play without pressure."@sidlowe pic.twitter.com/LC9VjMpQx0— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) April 14, 2021 🎙| Fede: "Casemiro was very helpful, easing my adaptation. When there’s a healthy rivalry, you become a better team, I love having that competition, 3 players who make it almost impossible to get in. I like the challenge. When you get to play with them, you enjoy it even more.”— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) April 14, 2021
This guy actually gets it.... Now contrast that with Odegaard and RMBS forums thoughts of heavily supporting him wanting to leave after 3 weeks (6 matches) of not playing. Valverde has the toughness and character. It's why he is the next one up. Just gonna laugh as the same people defending the other character applaud this one.
I knew before even posting this that you’d make it about Odegaard lol. Anyway I respect Fede’s outlook, although it’d be interesting to see what he says if all of the sudden he wasn’t getting any minutes at all, it’s good for us but I can see where Odegaard is coming from as well, both are doing what they believe is best for them atm, I don’t see anything wrong with that, you can laugh all you want but it’s possible to view both staying and fighting and going out to seek a new challenge admirable.
Everybody takes painkillers in football. It's commonly accepted to abuse the crap out of them. Even when there isn't a reason for it, players are kind of trained to take them every morning, even if nothing hurts. Independent doctors have approached both the G14 and ECA since then to disclose painkiller use (not ban, simply to disclose how much they use), and the clubs turn it down every single time, which they obviously have a reason to since stuff like diclofenac und ibuprofen is swallowed like candy and can do irreparable damage long term. The point is if they disclose the bizarre amounts they give the players, multiple guys might come back and sue. There are players in the Bundesliga that take them every day of the season, one per training session, sometimes two for games, as "preventive measure". Even amateurs take them. Then at the same time you have UEFA chasing "drug abuse", but having guys play with body stapled together numbed by meds is fine as long as the TV cash is coming in. Highlighting the dangers of painkiller abuse is sort of my passion project, i played through an injury on them, and i know how addictive it can be.
For me it's not about Odegaard as a person; I like the player and wanted him here when others were clamoring over VdB. It's about that specific kind of mentality and the spin and deflection defense of it. I mean now you're claiming Valverde doesn't know what it means to not get minutes! Lol! Maybe some of you identify with this because you share the same style? In the end I don't like it and I have never got along with teammates with it. In my experience it's weak and it always leads to issues later. In my opinion if he wants to truly reach his potential he needs to gain more strength of character. Anyways I'm glad I've become like 'el chupacabra' to you guys lol.
Valverde is a regular whenever fit, when has he gone multiple games without game time? That’s what I was referring to, I highly doubt that Odegaard leaves if he was getting 20 minutes or so every game. Or i just understand nuance. That's fine, we all have our pet peeves but there is nothing wrong with seeking a new challenge if you feel you're not getting what you need from the current one. Or you've become very predictable
