Well, same old same old, inconsistent as ever, lacking goals, just lots of huffing and puffing with no end product, i don't think any team out there actually fears us or anyone on our team anymore
I really don't understand what Zidane is seeing/thinking sometimes. The loss is one thing but it feels as though we aren't making any progress whatsoever or really coming into some sort of consistent form.
Barcelona will easily beat this Bilbao team, they are scrubs. The cup win will probably give them some more confidence and they are only 3 points away from us in the table. We just love resurrecting dead teams.
Certainly feels that way when it comes to breaking teams down that sit deep, its like groundhog day, the same thing over and over again that just isn't that effective, is it the system, the plays or the players, something isn't clicking, might be a bit of all three
Asensio was easily our best attacking player tonight even though it was Benzema who got the goal. Hazard with yet another disappointing outing, I’m a big fan of his but we need to plan for a replacement next summer, can’t go into next season hoping he’d show up. Benzema has also been god awful, despite the goal,it’s been that way for the past 4 games but we have no one on the bench that could come in for him. This was perhaps Kroos’s worst game in a Madrid shirt, guess playing 100000000 minutes in a couple of weeks could do that to you, Modric was meh as well. Despite all of this Odegaard will not see the field. The loss is on Zidane. Yes some players looked like trash but we still looked clueless out here as we have looked in the past few games, we’re slow and predictable, he’s gotta fix that.
We just don't have any system. And that is down to ZZ. Lethargic , uninspiring , boring. You name it.
I think the reason we look clueless is that we are playing almost every game with a handicap - the wingers are horrendous, and so are our fullbacks. Mendy, Vazquez, Hazard, Carvajal have been shocking the last few games. And Asensio is the unluckiest player in the game, which is worse - because at least you can improve bad performances. Harder to improve bad luck Everyone calling for Zidane's head - would love to hear their theories on what coach that is available that might do a better job with such a lethargic group of players. This is on Florentino. The team needs to be renewed.
We did renew. We did bring in players Zidane asked for (Jovic, Odegaard, Mendy) we’ve spent hundreds of millions on players who are not....playing. It’s on Zidane more than Perez tbh. Same crap midfield Same crap front 3 Same crap Varane who walks into the side Lucas at RB when we have a natural who we spent close to 40ME on. The only thing Perez is guilty is by not getting a backup for Casemiro. However, we have players in Castilla who could surely step in a game or two no? Zidane management of this team is a joke. Barca have Koeman ffs but for all the laughs they are only 3 points behind us and puts his faith in the younger players.
that's not true. the system is "pass the ball forward once, then 3 times backward, then one to the left, one of the right and repeat". Sometimes we end with a cross to the box, usually the cross comes from our single striker.
I disagree with all of this being on Florentino, some bad decisions have been made in recent times and Zidane has been part of it. Can't blame Florentino for Zidane leaving Valverde and Odegaard on the bench while playing the same midfield we've had since 2015.
At this point, I just want to see something different where we can find something to build on. I very well understand that this squad needs a lot of refreshing but we have different options on the bench that we can try in different ways like formation, system, combination of players. Sticking to the the same XI with the same tactics isn't working and we're losing games we really really shouldn't so let's try to figure something else out. I know Zidane has probably forgotten more about the game of football than I have ever known but to watch a lineup on paper and have a bunch of random folks at home being able to identify that we were going to struggle before a ball was kicked and then watch it all unfold is very frustrating.
I guess this one is on Florentino too. Casemiro was joint top in attempted crosses in the game and was the central midfielder who most regularly took up positions between the lines and out on the flank. Perhaps if we called back Ødegaard we wouldn't be forced to utilize our defensive midfielder this way. But alas. pic.twitter.com/kTVj6JcvzF— 🇵🇸 (@am_orvind) January 14, 2021
