This christmas my mom gave me an authentic Liverpool jersey. I'm serious, they left absolutely nothing off of this. It is literally exactly like the game used uniforms. The only bad part is that it has my last name on the back (seems kind of silly) and my lucky number, 10. Who here has a jersey. If so, from what year and what player, if any.

I guess, it's good that I'm number 10. Looks like they could use someone to replace the guy currently using that number.

You're in Texas, they'll just assume you like Carlsberg beer. Which will still be considered soft, but less so than a football jersey.

I doubt people here have enough culture to even know that there's a brand of beer named Carlsberg. I think 99% of the people here are racist against Europeans.

Seriously, the lack of world-view and culture down here is scary. Football is my escape into a separate world.

I've a variety of home and away kits in long and short sleeves with Owen, Carragher, Hamann, Riise, and Gerrard on the back. I have the 1984 Cup Winners replica with no name. MiniLB has many of the same as well as Kewell and Garcia.

I get the " I like that beer" routine regularly.

    P.S It's kit not jersey

How about football fans? I always figured that there were many more soccer fans down there. (cable in texas does show a lot more footie than in Michigan)

Sorry, I guess since I only have a few years of football under my belt, I still find myself using terms like "field" and "jersey" instead of "pitch" or "kit". I'll have to work on that. However, doesn't a kit imply that it is the entire uniform, socks, shorts, and shirt. I could be wrong.

I have three in my arsenal:
    1998-ish Yellow 3rd
    2001-3 European shirt
    2004-5 home

I used to own a 1990-92 red one with "Candy" on the front, but I long outgrew it and it got lost during one of my many moves since.

I get all of my football (the real kind) off of Fox Sports World. However, there is a healthy interest in the Mexican and South American leagues. This is due to the fact that the majority of people in San Antonio are hispanic and have some Mexican connection. Our local paper runs stories on the mexican and south american leagues, and you can catch the entire mexican season as well as Copa America and Libertadores, if you don't mind listening in Spanish. Not much European interest though. People are way too caught up in American Football.

No you and I are both right -- kit does imply the whole shebang but it also applies to just the shirt. Hell you are in the USA so jersey is perfectly acceptable -- just like "cleats" instead of "boots" . I didn't mean to be pedantic.

    BTW, Liverbird, no big deal

Anyways, to add to my earlier post, SA was in the running to be in the latest expansion for the MLS. Supposedly, we were supposed to build a stadium in conjunction with a local university's soccer/football (same football as soccer, not American football) team. It would have been cool since the aforementioned university is a five minute walk from my house. I would have been able to walk from my house and be able to pay a few bucks for some footie action. It looks as if we might get a team in the next expansion. But I will have moved out for college by then. :( yet :D

Two years ago I bought the black away kit with Owen on the back.

Last year I bought the white away kit with Diouf on the back (thats after he started the season well and I was a fan of his).

This year I got the home kit with Cisse on the back.

Now Owen and Diouf are gone and Cisse broke his leg. I probably shouldn't get Gerrard on the back next year or he will be off to Chelsea.

A couple of years ago, I had one with Steven Gerrard on the back, only it's his old number 17. Now I just buy the new shirts without any numbers on them.

Here In Arizona there's alot of ignorant Euro-haters as well, but I usually hang out with other soccer nuts like myself and we play in a league. My Liverpool shirt is a great way to meet other soccer fans though because they usually spot me and strike up conversation, as I do when I see someone wearing an English football shirt, most people have no Idea what I'm wearing and/or think that my team's name is "Carlsberg", but that's a good sign for me to know that they're complete idiots and I shouldn't wast my time with them. :D

When Didi first signed, I had HAMANN 16 put on the back of my shirt. As soon as I moved to Germany it got nicked.

    On this season's, I have ALONSO 14.

My Hamann is a long sleeve away from three years ago -- the white with blue and yellow trim. It was on a hanger displayed in the Anfield store in the Kop Stand. I had just finished the tour and I told MiniLB that the shirt was calling to me. They were about to switch to the black shirt so I got it for a reduced set price.

And my latest Gerrard is this years shirt but with 17 on the back as i got it last spring.

I've got 4 at the moment. One from the centennial season that I never wear, but just touch my scarf to when we need good luck (don't ask), last year's red long sleeve with Owen on the back, a short sleeve black kit with Gerrard, and a long sleeve white (the one with blue and yellow piping) with Spuds.

They usually only last 4-5 seasons before they wear out, so the centennial shirt is the only oldish one. My black Stevie G one is reaching its last legs. I wear that one like it's my job. It'll be a sad day when she bites the dust.

I didn't get one this year because I was hoping for the return of the CL jerseys with the gold lettering and the stars, but no dice. :( (I mean, we only reached the final 8 last time we broke it out. How unlucky were those? Bah, Reebok.) I need another red short sleeve to put back in the rotation for this summer. I'm thinking Carra. He's WAY overdue for a shirt purchase from me . . .

Man, San Antonio must be alot different than Houston. I don't know anyone who is racist against Europeans. And probably 90% of all my friends know about Carlsberg beer, and most have drank it before. Of course we usually stick to the Bud Light. But I have to agree that there is a bit of a lack of culture down here, but that's why I like it. Texas is like it's own little country. I don't think there are many states like Texas.
