Ødegaard wont play as many minutes as in Real Sociedad after this rough start of a season only based on injury reasons. Because the quality of the two teams is night/day difference in the midfield positions with Modric & Kroos they are both active playing an important role for this version of Real Madrid. It is also based on player experience as much as youth and what they can offer and benefit a team with high energy level.

My point is Zidane will use squad rotation after Eden scored 60 min. game - they have 5 subs now so Ødegaard will get minutes indeed, but it will be spread out in all competitions: Spanish cup, CL, and in La liga so many games. Asensio is a great player he was unlucky and had a major foot injury and was removed from the Spain squad based on that, and 24 years old is still consider young in my view.
And I agree I don`t think Ødegaard position is ideal on the wing either, and he still develop as a player in that age.

Was very impressed by his first half, thought it was his best game this season. His off the ball movement was on point made sure to drag defenders to create space for others or made a quick short run to make sure he was an option which helped breakdown Inter's pressure.

No one will mention what a wonderful job our scouts have done in acquiring this midfield - Kroos, Casemiro, Odegard, Valverde doesn't even cost us a combined 50 mln. That's insane.

Kid is a player. Only concern is his fitness due to his knees. Otherwise, classy player.

    Versatile.

He can actually play in midfield but can then advance to link midfield and attack.

MO will be fine a fine fine player for us long term. His eye for the pass and is clever movement is plain to see. He's going to slowly take the reigns and the responsibility for our creativity. I just hope he has patience and is not overly concerned with starting immediately. It will come.

I'm not sure Kroos was a product of the scouting department, it was down to him wanting to leave Bayern and us offering a contract. Odegaard was also on the radar for every top club he just picked us. Technically we sold Casemiro before realizing the mistake and buying him back.

Valverde is really the only break thru player thanks to Solari.

I agree with the cost tho, that's alot of bang for our buck.

He's a wonderful little player with potential to be our key peace for the next decade. Glad he's back! I hope he stays healthy and motivated.

I read there was a video of ZZ shouting at Odegaard during Celta cameo because of defensive lapse. Might explain why he's on a short leash since injury return though Isco, Marcelo etc aren't held to same standards.

Double standards in the squad. Always will be with Zidane.

Just look at Hazard getting game time ahead of VJ

Why was he even called back when the coach doesn't trust him enough to give him a place in the starting lineup against minnows?

Right. Now Zizou doesn't like/trust him.

He gave him plenty of minutes at beginning of the season. Until he got injured and re-injured.

Bottom line is, he hasn't looked anything special while he was on the pitch. He wasn't bought on for being nit and tidy. I am not saying, his madrid career should be judged based on few games. But lets not pretend he was excellent on the pitch.

Anyway, there must be some reason why zizou hasn't been playing him at all since his return from last injury.

Zidane is doing his best to recover Isco and Asensio. Absolute nonsense that these two are getting minutes ahead of Odegaard.

I think Odegaard performed really well against Inter, between his injuries. Even then, I feel guy wasn't ready for the whole game. After that stretch of repeated injuries I got the feeling he's pretty physically fragile. I'm not sure if he's avoided or just taken care of. I believe his time will come when he's ready to play the whole season at 100%.

I'm not sure what to make of Martin until then, but I believe it's in everyone's interest to get the best out of him.

How does it work? Like who deserves to be recovered while others don't?

We should see in the next few games what Zidane’s plan is with him but I’m starting to get very annoyed, 7 minutes in the last 6 games he was available is a complete joke, especially when the likes of Isco are getting minutes.
