He had some success early on in Israel because he brought something that clubs didn’t have: height. Once he went back to the US with more athletic CBs and a faster pace, of course he wasn’t going to post the same numbers.

Sure, but he was great in Israel for one season at Hapoel and then it was three season of a few cameos and lots of garbage minutes at Maccabi, with little evidence of anyone in Israel being interested in taking him on loan. I guess what I was really interested in is why he had what seemed to be a breakout season, followed by the footballing equivalent of crickets. I get that his height made him very different, which is why he was so successful initially, but the complete lack of impact, or interest in him from from other sides, afterwards is surprising.

Unless he got shorter while he was at Maccabi :p

The breakout was at Maccabi Netanya where he had some quick success, then he continued his form with Hapoel. At the time, Netanya was relegation bound and needed cash so he was viewed as a savior. With Hapoel, his form continued but they were also in a bad financial situation that meant they couldn’t keep him.

At Maccabi, player salaries are high, no one takes a player from them on loan unless it is a youth player. He was used as a sub at Maccabi to provide depth and was seldom used. He should have stayed in Israel because his stock was high. But I think he’s best friends with Ethan Finlay and some how managed to get Minnesota to take a flyer on him.
