Are you guys buying this $10 world sports package from Sling? Is there another way? I dropped Bein from my cable when it would have been $25/month more than what I pay to get some bad college sports channels plus Bein.
You can also get BeIn on Fubo, but that’s a substantial investment that probably should just replace your cable.
I think there may be pirate ways to do it but I went with Sling. I think it was cheaper than that when I bought it... for the 1st year I think it was $60... but it will be $120 next year. I am just hoping that a few more US Intl's will start playing in Spain and France over the next season or so... If it gets to the point where I have 6 or 7 players to watch across those two leagues then it will be worth $120 a year. Right now I am pretty much only getting Dest, Musah and Weah.
Valencia seems to be struggling pretty mightily this season. For those who know the club, what gives? Did they lose a bunch of good players from last season? Did a bunch of players get COVID early on in the pandemic and are struggling with after effects?
Not only does the player pool show this, but I think it’s become obvious that Berhalter realizes this. His selections are younger and more experimental, and I believe the thought process is ‘we’ll see what we can do in 2022 but it’s 2026, on our home soil, we are expecting results.”
Yes, hence the commitment to keeping the ball and taking the game to the other team. This generation is the one who changes the way we approach the game. If they have the mental side down, they’ll go head to head with the giants. This is essentially an olympic team right now. They’ll have ups and downs in qualifying as well as in the World Cup should they make it. There will be high highs and low lows, but the trajectory is for a squad in 2026 who can win the World Cup. It’s finally our time.
eh a good coach would go for 2022....5 years from now no telling how many of the current players will even be playing.....the time is NOW.
Not realistic. Has nothing to do with the coach, except that Berhalter has been a part of recruiting several top-level young players into the US program and has done an admirable job of evaluating and integrating the massive COVID-era player pool for 2021 and 2022. I am legitimately excited to see what this coming US attack machine looks like. Not just attacking offensively, but to win the ball back and continue to put the other team under pressure. It’s a complete 180 degree reversal from the Arena/Bradley/Samson era squads, and we have developed the personnel to execute it at a high level. 2022 is a free shot at success, 2026 is a pressure-filled dance with destiny.
Yeah. Look, if you want to think about winning, pull up the French roster and compare position by position. And look at the guys who aren't even getting a call-up. We have a few guys who could make that bench on their best day. Let's think about making the semis until we can field a full roster, including bench.
France probably has the deepest talent pool in the world. You don't have to be France to win the WC. We've seen much shallower talent pools do some remarkable things. We haven't seen a "surprise" WC winner yet but we've seen a surprise Euro winner and some surprising runs at the WC that could have resulted in a surprise winner. It hasn't quite come off yet but it's possible.
meh US U20s beat French U20s...I think you all are overrating France a bit. It only takes 11 plyers.....sure France might have more "best 11@ types..........."....but Idc.....US has enough to beat anyone.
Yes. And France hasn't made top-4 in the last three U20s. You could take away the conclusion that France isn't very good or at least that their young talent pool is weak. Or you could take that the U20s aren't too meaningful.

I mean, even if every country takes the U-20s seriously, what it measures is "how good are your best prospects who aren't good enough to be prevented by their clubs from playing in the U-20s" is, which involves a number of arbitrary factors related to the country's professional league and exporting, plus to a lesser degree how good the team's senior national team is. Gio Reyna, for instance, will likely never play an official U20 match in his life.
In your case, probably not. Which is rather different from my case. I'm definitely too old and I was never, ever good enough.

Musah has cooled off since appearing for the USMNT and is now primarily on the bench. He didn't even see the field in the mid-week cup game. Hoping he gets a sub appearance and makes a case for getting back in the starting 11. I have watched all of his appearances lately and they have be OK at best. Still so young though.
