They seem to attack only up the wings, and you frequently see a crowd packed together in the 6 us box. Often see Kante and Mount way forward. Just not in sync, not spaced well, easy to defend.
🗣 "Not good enough, the players have to take the responsibility" Frank Lampard vents his frustrations with his team in his post-match interview pic.twitter.com/Rw0JJjJkkJ— Football Daily (@footballdaily) December 26, 2020
He's always cutting in towards the middle so maybe start him there ? But then who would provide width on the left side ?
Holy. Shit. That's even worse than I imagined it would be. Blames the players straight off after saying that that the two subs brought energy only seconds prior. Doesn't take responsibility for having his guys ready to play and doesn't take any responsibility for his bad tactics. JFC.
With all the attacking talents they signed they only really needed to sign Ziyech. They have to play guys out of position to fit in Havertz and Werner.
Chelsea has to look for Pulisic and he has to put himself in position to make things happen. The first half was like he wasn't there. When they started to involve him more in the game things got better. Chelsea was horrible against the press...no energy and not getting it to the play makers. Mount and Pulisic seem to be more in sync. Werner is great in transition but he's not an attacking dribbler.
From my understanding, Lampard insisted on buying Timo, so he probably feel his rep is on the line since they spend a lot of money on him... But I agree, it's time for Lamp to play players that are currently in form...Timo is not a left winger, at least not in the premiere League..Maybe in Germany where I understand he played there a lot.
🇺🇸 Christian Pulisić (22) v. Arsenal:☑️ 90 minutes🚀 2 shots🔀 6/9 dribbles won⚔️ 9/13 ground duels won🔑 3 key passes↪️ 4 crosses🎯 91.7% pass completion🤕 3 fouls sufferedChelsea’s largest threat. Always so much better than his goals/assists tally. 💪🏼 pic.twitter.com/w6JHny5iRK— Football Wonderkids (@fbwonderkids) December 26, 2020
yep .... and this is after he is complaining that they have to play Monday as well. hey Frank - ever think that as a result of that complaining your players were taking it a little easy since they wanted to conserve energy for Monday as well? he should be crediting his players for their success - and taking the blame when the results don't go there way. but here he clearly blames the players straight out.
perhaps more vocal and demand the ball on the field? far and away their most dangerous player ... question is does Frank see this and vector his players to feed CP again and again ... or is there concern that they cannot do that because Pulisic's hammy will become "aware" and disappear?
his feet are simply quicker than any defender out there .... they just have to back off in the box .... or else risk the PK ... after he releases to Odoi - who does not pass it back to him - and Tammy scores - CP does not sulk that he did not get the ball back ... he just turns and jogs back up field ....
unfortunately - at the moment Lampard has hit the ceiling (a wall) .... only question is whether Abramovich has the patience to find out whether it is a local or global minimum. If a manager is unable to do some reflection before blaming the players first .... that is just not a good sign.
So do you risk Puli's hammys on two (2) days rest ? Not much choice but to play him unless Ziyech is ready or FL continues to put out that Werner fella.
Pulisic will be a massive star for Chelsea if they replace Frank with a world class manager (cough Ponchettino cough), or for some other big club if they don’t. Frank blaming players’ effort is absurd. That team could not be more out of sync, and it wasn’t just this game. There is zero spacing. No one in midfield can sees or take advantage of the runs the attackers make. Offensively they have been getting by on their talent advantage but have been consistently far less than the sum of their parts.
TBF CHO fell asleep before the pass and CP throws up an arm in visible frustration. CHO was lucky Arsenal we’re also feeling a little lazy.
The thing with soccer is you only need to watch the games to see who's good, and who's not. Abraham was shit for 90 min and show up and score a goal. If you only look at his goals/assists numbers, you would think he is a top 5 striker in the league.
CP is Chelsea’s best player. It’s evident every time I watch. He needs to move on to a better club...maybe he unites with Dest at Barca? Barcamerica?
