Looks like Room was given it when he came here. https://www.mlssoccer.com/rosters/2019/columbus-crew-sc
Shame on me for forgetting Room. He is of course a correct answer but not the one I was looking for. (Dante being the obvious one, although that was only briefly when he came back in 2004. During his long first stint he wore 9.
Dante Washington was the one I remembered, because people started calling him “Dante the Great” or “The Great Dante” or other variants thereof in reference to Gretzky’s 99.
Tarbell is Massive...without him the team doesn’t win the Cup. I won’t stand behind his name being spoken in vein. Oh...Merry Christmas all.
Vela plays wide, mostly. BWP plays central. He's a CF. Vela is a winger. Or a SS. In my view, anyway.
Bush for Tarbell seems a wash for me. I'm totally cool with it. Tarbell had been in the league long enough to quality for free agency (he just finished his fifth season in MLS, and you need five seasons plus be at least 24 to quality). So I wouldn't be surprised if he knew he'd not be a starter here and asked that his option be declined. His market value is probably higher now that it's even been. Two playoff shutouts, an mls championship ring. Good for him. I wish him well, as he's now filed in my "Bash Brothers" folder: home of former players who didn't start here but made significant contributions in big games (like Adam Jahn).
Jugular vein? (recalling old Mad magazines). Came over about the same time as Ming (Jacob Thomas)--both from the German 3rd division. Got hurt, as I recall, and ended up retiring at the end of the season. Seems to be a pretty successful business guy in Dallas these days.
He was plucked out of the second or third division in Germany at the same time as Cue Ball Thomas was. He played one season for us and then Sigi took over and he was cut. I'm not sure where he ended up after that. Edit: What @kgilbert78 said in the post above mine.
Hat tip to @Stuart95 : The Scots want Cadden back https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport...fer-news/chris-cadden-set-hibs-offer-23217197
So.... Let's say the Yedlin rumors are true. 1) Do we want Yedlin? 2) or, more importantly, does Bez want him? 3) How would you rank the "short term" (2-3 years) of those three: Yedlin vs Cadden vs Afful? 4) what does Bez think about unloading Cadden? and, also of importance, 5) What does Afful think about having a reduced role as RB (Cup games, two matches in one week, etc) (This is my brain after I just woke up.)
1. Yes. Yes, we do. 2. Bez has shown he has the ability to recruit talent to both Toronto and Columbus and clearly knows what he’s doing....any GM that says they don’t want Yedlin would be silly to say that. 3. Yedlin...............................(huge gap)... Afful/Cadden 4. MLS needs to become more of a selling league. If you get a fair offer for someone who rode the bench, take it. 5. Afful is going to be 35, I’m not sure it really matters what he thinks. The goal is to continue building the best roster possible to compete for titles. Trotting a 35 year old Afful every day doesn’t do anything for us.
That's some classic British "reporting" there. I love how Oxford United's name is dropped, too. I especially like how the title refers to Cadden an an "MLS star." Anyway, you never know what'll come of this. But it seems pretty substance-less to me.
