They only have 12 players so far, but I'd already pick Austin to beat RSL. Building a new roster that looks very solid and they've only signed one DP, so far.
No way Austin beats RSL. No way. This is the deepest RSL team ever. Just kidding. Practicing my Dunny impression. There are probably deeper and more talented USL teams than this RSL team. I know without even looking there’s better coached USL teams for sure. The new owners should request an expansion draft for taking on this disaster. The would get to send 5 RSL players to other teams just for fun.
reverse Expansion Draft. We get to pick 5 players and put them on another roster. I'd love to dump Rusnak's salary on a different group
Really fun semifinal tonight in the CONCACAF CCL, as LAFC was down 1-0 and got a bogus red card shortly before the end of half one and came out of the locker room to score twice in 90 seconds. LAFC held on 10 v 11 until a Club America player got a straight red in the 80th, and then got a goal in stoppage for a very satisfying 3-1 win. The final is on Tuesday against Tigres.
I'm not cheering for LAFC, even in this. I just can't. 2011 still haunts me and I want RSL to be the one to do it for MLS This tournament is a farce compared to what its supposed to be, too.
I love Vela ripping it up against Club America while playing on a(n) MLS team though. I mean, it's beautiful for so many reasons!
Whereas I would be happy if LigaMX didn't win the thing for the rest of this century. (Given how many teams are and will be in the league, the odds of making the CCL are such that for most teams, it will be a rare season that gets them there. That wasn't the case from 2009-13 - at least not to the same extent.)

BWP gone... to Columbus. https://www.columbuscrewsc.com/post...ns-free-agent-forward-bradley-wright-phillips
Figures. Columbus could really use the help. I know it was never in the cards, but it would have been fun to see BWP play for us. Freddy could probably have found a good spot for him at holding midfield or maybe defensive wing.
Columbus is exactly the place that can use him. At his age and with his particular combination of assets and liabilities, only an already "rich" team in terms of strikers can benefit from him. We definitely aren't that.
Looks like Chicago realized their crest was horrible. New crest coming in 2022. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2021/...share_button&utm_campaign=social_share_button
You can take CJ Sapong off the list of available strikers. He's signed with Nashville. https://www.nashvillesc.com/post/20...major-league-soccer-veteran-striker-cj-sapong
I'm going to put this here since I'm not sure if it is going to be RSL news or not: USSF announced they WILL have a 2021 USOC. The caveat? Well, it's only going to include 24 teams. If you're like me, you probably instantly started counting the number of US MLS teams to see if that is where the cutoff is. While there are 24 US MLS teams (hey, look at that) USSF isn't going to turn this into a league cup for 2021 - even if that kinda makes more sense. Instead, they are going to go with the following format: Opening Round (16 Teams) Eight USL Championship teams Four Open Division teams Two USL League One teams Two NISA teams Round of 16 Eight Opening Round winners Eight MLS teams So, again, if you're like me you're trying to count the number of US based teams for the leagues mentioned. Let me help you out there: MLS: 24 USL Championship: 31 or 24 or 21 (None are outside US, but 7 are an MLS affiliate, with 3 more "sorta" MLS affiliates (e.g. Colorado Springs Switchbacks)) USL League One: 11 or 8 or 7 (There is a Toronto based team so removed them, 3 teams are MLS affiliates, with one more in that "sorta" range: Madison) NISA: 9 (There is a Chicago and NJ team announced, but start dates of "Fall 2021") Open Division: Not even going to guess So, um, there is going to be a lot of "picking" for teams. Or maybe clubs will remove themselves? I'm guessing those locations with stricter covid-19 rules will be removed by USSF automatically, but I don't think that'll get the tournament to the magic number listed above. Given we're in a state/region that is more "lax" with the rules, I'm guessing we will be a candidate for the 8 MLS spots. However, I'm wondering if this will be dictated based on the 2020 standings, at least for those leagues (MLS) that had a 2020 season. But, that removes the big selling point of this tournament being that anyone is able to make a run at it / teams having a down domestic season can make a run at the cup to "compensate". Do you want RSL in this? Does it matter?
I should have gone to the official source... This clarifies the pool of teams for each league but states the mechanism to select them hasn't been determined. MLS: 24 Teams USL Championship: 24 Teams - excluding those majority-owned or otherwise controlled by a higher division professional club NISA: 9 Teams USL League One: 8 Teams - excluding those majority-owned or otherwise controlled by a higher division professional club Open Division: 36 Teams (12 from Local Qualifiers, 13 from NPSL, 10 from USL League Two, and the 1 Amateur Cup Champion)
I only care to be in it if that means playing youth. But if we're doing that in the regular season then I don't care about this at all.
Team needs a trophy. If we are in the Open Cup, I want us to play with a goal of winning. We won't be winning the league, so lets win the Open Cup. Remember when DC finished last, yet has that Open Cup on the shelf? That cup's still there, but the last place season is long forgotten.
So, uh, Charlotte FC thinks all of its fans are loaded...? I'm getting my monthly hit from RSL right now for tickets laughing at the notion that RSL would ever pull this kind of thing off. If you want to see how to slow down great excitement on an expansion team, look here
So for the cheap seats at the top of the corner of Charlotte's stadium (kind of like those crappy seats at the top of Section 14 at the RioT, but with no free hot dogs), I have to spend $350 for a Personal Seat License, plus $630 for the season ticket? And they've already got 30,000 season ticket deposits? Some sort of alternate universe thing going on here, maybe?
